Introduction
SongKong helps you organize your digital music collection by identifying your music and adding accurate metadata and artwork.
Metadata is the information stored inside your music files, such as:
- Song title
- Artist
- Album
- Track number
- Year
- Genre
- Artwork
SongKong can automatically identify your music using online music databases and audio fingerprinting. This means it can often identify songs even when their existing metadata is incomplete or incorrect.
What can SongKong do?
The main task in SongKong is Fix Songs . It can identify your music and automatically improve its metadata and artwork.
SongKong can also:
- Rename and organize your music files
- Find duplicate songs
- Make manual or automated metadata changes
- Create detailed reports about your music collection
- Undo changes if you are unhappy with the results
You can use SongKong on anything from a single album to your entire music collection.
Before making changes
If you would like to see the current state of your music collection first, you can run Status Report . This creates a report showing your existing metadata without modifying your music files.
This is useful, but you do not have to run Status Report before using SongKong.
A safe way to get started
If you are new to SongKong, we recommend starting with a small folder containing one or two albums rather than your complete music collection.
You can initially run Fix Songs with Preview Only enabled. SongKong will show you what it would change without actually modifying your music files.
Once you are happy with the results, you can run Apply Preview to make the changes.
