"Add to MusicBrainz" is finding 2 albums out of 500

Hello,
Great software!

I have a folder of around500 artists and singles, EPs and albums per artist, almost all with at least metadata for album artist, title, Album and artists, however only a few musicbrainz pages to submit are being found.

Could you tell me what else is needed for most/all of the albums to be shown musicbrainz submit pages?

Thank you!

(report being made now)

Experimenting, I’ve found that if I point to an album to be added to musicbrainz directly, SK opens a MB submit page eg E:\Music E\Untagged\David Moore\Graze the Bell

However, if I point to the base folder E:\Music E\Untagged it is not added.

Is the problem that the folders continaing the audio are in an artist’s subfolder? ie should they be directly in the base folder submitted to SK?

I moved all the albums to the root folder given to SK, asked for 10 MB entries, it 9, I ran iut again and it gave 2, ran it again and it gave 1. Seems odd - shouldn’t it max out the query each time?

Also, it says there were possibly hundreds of MB albums though it’s outputing less than 10.

Hi, thanks for the logs it turns out there is an exception occurring that is preventing the AddToMusicBrainz page being created

I have raised an issue but I don’t think this wil be difficult to fix, since I am due to do a new release this week I will ensure I fix this bug in time for the new release.

Thank you -

Another issue that may be related to the error you found:

Out of the same 500 albums or so, SK couldn’t find BandCamp releases.

However I’ve just pointed to a single folder with a Bandcamp release, and it found it and retagged it, then I was able to use Rename to move it into the tagged folder. I found it odd that SK wasn’t finding many/virtually any Bandcamp releases when I was farily certain more than half were from BC.

Though various other albums (with good metadata) that are on bandcamp, when SK is pointed to the album, it couldn’t find them using the bandcamp function nor would it create a musicbrainz page when using the MB function.

Also, I had to delete the database as an error stated it was corrupt though the issues, above, continued
Thanks.

Hi, I have taken a look at the logs and I can see some searching on bandcamp being done and no errors, it maybe there is an issue but I re-tested my sample bandcamp releases and they worked okay for me.

I’m going to have to look this into further after releasing new SongKong release because I don’t want to delay the new release further, the Add To Music Brainz issue has now been fixed for new release.

New release now available with this fixed.

Okay with these sort of problems the dificulty is often replicating the issue. If you could send me your music files for a few albums that you know to be in Bandcamp than I can test locally with full debugging and work out the reason why they are not being matched.

Thanks, will do when have some time.

After updating, when I run SK it opens for a split second then shuts down. Should I uninstall it completely or will this remove useful reports etc?

So you downloaded new version of SongKong and installed it, then you started it and it shutdown?

That should not happen, since you are on Windows please run SongKongDebug instead of SongKong instead then paste the contents of the Dos Window

The CMD windopw opens, shows:

debuglogfile is:C:\Users\Nero\AppData\Roaming\SongKong\Logs/songkong_debug%u-%g.log userlogfile is:C:\Users\Nero\AppData\Roaming\SongKong\Logs/songkong_user%u-%g.log H2 Cache Size is 1000000 kb

then closes.

Can I attach the logs here? They’re 4 and 9 megs in size

Logs, thanks:

Hi, okay thanks there does not seem to be any error or issue. But if you are saying the SongKong window is not appearing do you mind simply restarting your computer I think that will resolve it, if it doesnt please take a look at your Anti-Virus software in case that is preventing it from starting.

Rebooted again and working (odd).

Musicbrainz function seems to be working!

Thanks!

Hi, if you are able to do this I should have time to look at them this week.
