Where am I going wrong?

I just bought SongKong.
I choose the iTunes media folder that is on external drive from my new iMac
(Mavericks) and I ask SongKong to fix songs.
I have done this a number of times, at least 4 times, and it never completes the task.
It freezes/stops and I have to begin again.

I have a largish music collection 40,000+ songs, but did not think that was an obstacle for SongKong.
I have noted that there has been a number of SongKong updates this week - I am using v1.19.0 and of course there was the OSX security update from Apple and I have run that too.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Firstly please send email support@jthink.net your support files (Help/Create Support Files) Im trying to ascertain whether a change I made in SongKong 1.18 could cause SongKong to finish prematurely http://jthink.net:8081/browse/SONGKONG-526

Secondly if you are using iTunes I have just uncovered an issue on some systems that prevent iTunes being updated. If you would like to try this link http://jthink.net/songkong/downloads/build1027/songkong-osx.dmg?val=26 and let me know the results that would be useful

email of support files sent.

Suggested songkong-osx now running

User crossing all fingers and closing his eyes (but peeking, so that my future reports will be credible)

Hmm, I don’t seem to have recieved an email

Sent again

SongKong v1.20 froze after completing 20608 songs

Hi, got it it looks like you have three copies of SongKong still active and I think this is causing the problem (at least withe last run) because they are intefering with each other

Can you ensure SongKong is only run once, it may be safest to reboot.

Hmm, is that a osX problem, because I am sure that I chose “replace” everytime a new version went into my applications folder.

I have searched for other copies and trashed everything thing that had songkong on it (the dmg files)

but now my songkong has preview only checked and greyed so I can’t uncheck.

No I don’t mean three different versions installed, I mean three copies of SongKong actively running.

In normal circumstances that cannot happen because if you start SongKong, then click on the SongKong icon again it just redisplays the first one started but I think maybe it could happen if the 1st SongKong crashes in some way, you could check using Force Quit from the Apple menu.

If you are back in preview only mode sounds like you trashed your original settings and you just need to reinstall your license again.

Now fix songs lets me select options, but clicking the start button does not start the process. No screen with running numbers appears.

Okay it sounds like in trying to delete to delete multiple copies of SongKong you have deleted some of the preferences and confused SongKong, best thing to do is completely remove the SongKong preferences.

Close SongKong
From Finder, hold down Option Button and select Go menu
Select Library from the list
Go to Preferences subfolder
Delete SongKong folder
Restart SongKong

that should fix it.
