FieldNames

SongKong support a large number of metadata fields, we briefly summarize them below.

AcoustId Fingerprint
This is a compact digital representation of the audio content itself, generated by analyzing the sound waveform, the fingerprint can be generated locally by SongKong.

AcoustId Id
This is the unique identifier returned by the AcoustID service after matching an audio fingerprint. Multiple fingerprints that are almost the same but not identical can be allocated the same AcoustID. SongKong stores it so the track can be re-identified in future scans and cross-referenced against MusicBrainz recording data.

Album
The Album field stores the official release title that the track belongs to. SongKong prefers standardized album names from MusicBrainz so that all tracks from the same release are grouped consistently across your library.

Album Artist
This field represents the primary credited artist for the album as a whole, such as a band, orchestra, or “Various Artists”, all tracks from the same album must always have the same value for Album Artist.

Album Artists
Album Artists is a multi-value field listing all artists credited at the album level. SongKong uses this where supported to preserve collaborative or joint album credits without collapsing them into a single combined name.

Album Artists Sort
This field contains a normalized, sortable version of the Album Artists names, usually in “Last name, First name” or similar format. It ensures albums are ordered correctly in players that sort alphabetically.

Album Sort
Album Sort stores an alternate version of the album title designed purely for sorting, such as moving “The” to the end. SongKong fills this to give consistent album ordering without altering the displayed album name.

Album Version
This field describes the specific edition or variant of the album, such as “Deluxe Edition”, “Remastered”, or “Live”. SongKong uses it to distinguish between multiple releases that share the same album title.

Album Year
Album Year stores the date the album was originally released, rather than the recording date. This could be just a year or a full date depending on the data available and SongKong configuration.

Arranger
The Arranger field credits the person responsible for arranging the music, which is particularly important for classical, jazz, and orchestral works. SongKong preserves this role when the data is available from MusicBrainz.

Arranger Sort
This is a sortable version of the arranger’s name, formatted to allow consistent alphabetical ordering. It does not change how the name is displayed but improves browsing and filtering in compatible players.

Artist
Artist stores the primary performer credited for the individual track. SongKong ensures this reflects the correct recording-level artist rather than the album-level credit when they differ.

Artist Sort
This field contains a sorting-friendly version of the Artist name. SongKong populates it so artists appear in a predictable order in music players without altering how names are shown.

Artists
Artists is a multi-value field listing all maion performers credited on a specific track. SongKong uses it to preserve detailed credits for collaborations instead of forcing multiple artists into a single combined string.

Artists Sort
This field provides sortable versions of all track artists, aligned with the Artists field. It allows consistent ordering when browsing by contributors in players that support multi-value sorting.

ASIN
ASIN is the Amazon Standard Identification Number associated with a specific release. SongKong stores it when available to help identify exact commercial editions and for compatibility with players or tools that reference Amazon data.

Barcode
The Barcode field contains the release’s UPC or EAN code. SongKong uses this as a strong identifier to distinguish between different pressings or editions of the same album.

BPM
BPM (Beats Per Minute) represents the tempo of the track this is generated by looking up the recording in AcousticBrainz to support DJ use cases, tempo-based playlists, or playback features that rely on rhythmic information.

Catalog Number
This field stores the label’s catalog number for the release, which uniquely identifies it within a record label’s catalog. SongKong uses it to differentiate between releases that may otherwise look identical in name and date.

Comment
The Comment field is a free-text field intended for miscellaneous notes that do not fit cleanly into other tags. SongKong does not modify this field

Choir
This field identifies the choir or vocal ensemble performing on the recording, which is particularly relevant for choral and classical music. SongKong preserves this credit separately from Artist to maintain accurate role-based metadata.

Choir Sort
Choir Sort contains a normalized, sortable version of the choir name, typically formatted to improve alphabetical ordering. SongKong uses this to ensure consistent browsing without altering the displayed choir name.

Classical Catalog
This field stores a standardized classical work catalog reference such as BWV, K., Hob., or Op. numbers. SongKong extracts and normalizes this information to help uniquely identify classical works beyond their titles.

Classical Nickname
The Classical Nickname field contains commonly used informal names for classical works, such as “Eroica” or “Moonlight”. SongKong keeps this separate from the formal work title to preserve both accuracy and usability.

Composer
Composer records the individual who wrote the musical work, independent of the performer. SongKong treats this as a core field for classical music, ensuring it reflects the work-level composer rather than track-level performers.

Composer Sort
This field provides a sorting-friendly version of the composer’s name, typically in “Surname, Given name” format. SongKong populates it so composers are ordered consistently in music players and library views.

Conductor
Conductor identifies the person who directed the performance, most commonly in orchestral or choral recordings. SongKong preserves this role separately from Artist to accurately reflect classical performance credits.

Conductor Sort
Conductor Sort contains a normalized version of the conductor’s name for alphabetical ordering. It improves consistency in player sorting while leaving the displayed name unchanged.

Copyright
This field holds copyright statements associated with the recording or release. SongKong stores this information for completeness and legal reference, particularly when sourced from authoritative metadata providers.

Country
Country indicates the release country of the album rather than the artist’s nationality. SongKong uses this to differentiate between region-specific editions or pressings.

Credits
Credits is a free text field where store all credits available when we match to Discogs or Bandcamp, it allows for addtional processing of roles that are not currenlty mapped to role based field, examples or roles that are not mapped are Photogrpahy and Art Direction

Disc Number
Disc Number identifies which disc a track belongs to within a multi-disc release. SongKong uses this to ensure correct track grouping and ordering across box sets and multi-CD albums.

Disc Subtitle
This field provides an optional title or description for a specific disc within a multi-disc release, such as “Act I” or “Live at Carnegie Hall”. SongKong preserves disc subtitles to give additional context beyond simple disc numbering.

Disc Total
Disc Total stores the total number of discs in a multi-disc release. SongKong uses this alongside Disc Number so players can correctly display disc ranges and keep multi-disc albums properly grouped.

Discogs Artist Site URL
When SongKong matches an album to Discogs it stores the Album Artist(s) in this field.

Discogs Release Site URL
When SongKong matches an album to Discogs it stores the Discogs Url in this field, allows users to verify release details or cross-reference physical pressings.

DJ Mixer
DJ Mixer identifies the person responsible for mixing a DJ set or continuous mix compilation. SongKong treats this as a role-based credit distinct from Artist so DJ mixes are correctly attributed.

DJ Mixer Sort
This field provides a sortable version of the DJ Mixer name. SongKong uses it to ensure DJ mixers are ordered consistently in compatible players.

Encoded By
Encoded By records the individual or tool responsible for encoding the audio file. SongKong generally preserves this information as file provenance metadata and does not attempt to normalize it.

Engineer
Engineer credits the audio engineer involved in recording, mixing, or mastering. SongKong preserves this role where available, particularly for classical, jazz, and high-quality studio releases.

Engineer Sort
Engineer Sort contains a normalized, sorting-friendly version of the engineer’s name. It improves alphabetical ordering without changing the displayed credit.

Ensemble
Ensemble identifies a performing group such as an orchestra, band, or chamber group. SongKong uses this field to preserve structured performance credits separately from individual artists.

Ensemble Sort
This field stores a sortable version of the ensemble name. SongKong uses it to ensure ensembles appear in a consistent order in library views.

Genre
Genre classifies the musical style of the track or album. SongKong can update this value from Discogs and can normalize genre values to reduce fragmentation and maintain consistency across the library.

Grouping
The Grouping field can has two roles. It can be used in a similar way to Genre updating from Disocgs styles or Genres. It can also been used for Classical matches to store the classical work depending on the value of the Copy Work to Grouping field option

Instrument
Instrument specifies the instrument performed by a credited artist, such as “Violin” or “Piano”.

Involved People
This field lists important that are not performers, such as producers or engineers. SongKong uses it as a flexible catch-all for additional credits while keeping structured roles intact.

ISRC
ISRC stores the International Standard Recording Code, uniquely identifying a specific recording. SongKong treats this as a strong identifier across releases and preserves it whenever available.

Is Classical
This boolean field indicates whether the track or album is classified as classical music, this is done using SongKong own custom algorithm and SongKong uses it internally to trigger classical-specific tagging, naming, and grouping logic.

Is Live
Is Live indicates that the recording was captured during a live performance. SongKong uses this to distinguish studio recordings from live versions and to improve metadata accuracy.

Is Compilation
This field flags whether the album is a compilation of tracks from multiple sources or artists. SongKong uses it to adjust album artist handling and grouping behavior.

Is Greatest Hits
Is Greatest Hits marks albums that are curated collections of an artist’s popular tracks. SongKong uses this to differentiate them from standard studio albums.

Is Soundtrack
This field indicates that the album originates from a film, television, or game soundtrack. SongKong uses it to apply appropriate album artist and grouping rules.

Key
Key stores the musical key of the track, such as C major or A minor. SongKong preserves or calculates this field to support harmonic mixing, analysis, and advanced filtering in compatible players.

Label
Label identifies the record company that released the album. SongKong uses this field to distinguish between releases with otherwise identical metadata and to support label-based browsing.

Language
Language indicates the primary language used in the lyrics or vocal performance. SongKong preserves this field when available to support multilingual libraries and filtering.

Lyricist
Lyricist credits the individual who wrote the lyrics, separate from the composer of the music. SongKong preserves this role to maintain accurate songwriting credits.

Lyricist Sort
Lyricist Sort contains a sortable version of the lyricist’s name. SongKong uses it to ensure consistent alphabetical ordering without changing the displayed name.

Media
Media describes the format of the release, such as CD, Vinyl, or Digital Media. SongKong uses this to differentiate between physical and digital releases of the same album.

Mixer
Mixer identifies the person responsible for mixing the recording. SongKong preserves this production role where available and keeps it distinct from engineering or mastering credits.

Movement
Movement stores the title of a movement within a larger classical work. SongKong uses this field to maintain correct work structure without embedding movement details in the track title.

Movement No
Movement No stores the numeric position of the movement within the work. SongKong uses it to ensure movements are ordered correctly in players.

Movement Total
Movement Total records the total number of movements in the work. SongKong uses it alongside Movement No to provide complete structural context.

MusicBrainz Artist Id
This field stores the unique MusicBrainz identifier for an artist. SongKong relies on it to ensure stable artist identification even when names are ambiguous or change over time.

MusicBrainz Original Release Id
This field contains the MusicBrainz identifier for the album’s original release. SongKong preserves it to maintain historical relationships between reissues and original editions.

MusicBrainz Recording Id
MusicBrainz Recording Id identifies the MusicBrainz Recording, the same MusicBrainz Recording can be found on multiple releases.

MusicBrainz Release Artist Id
MusicBrainz Release Artist Id identifies the credited artist at the release level. SongKong uses it to distinguish album-level credits from track-level artist credits.

MusicBrainz Release Group Id
This field identifies the MusicBrainz release group, which represents a logical album entity spanning multiple editions. SongKong uses it to group different versions of the same album.

MusicBrainz Release Id
MusicBrainz Release Id uniquely identifies a specific release or edition. SongKong relies on it heavily to ensure accurate and repeatable tagging.

MusicBrainz Track Id
This field identifies the track entry within a MusicBrainz release. SongKong uses it to preserve exact track sequencing and release alignment.

MusicBrainz Work Id
MusicBrainz Work Id uniquely identifies the musical work itself, independent of any recording. SongKong uses it as a core identifier in classical and work-based tagging.

MusicBrainz Work
MusicBrainz Work stores the authoritative name of the musical work as defined in MusicBrainz. SongKong uses it to populate or validate the Work field.

MusicBrainz Work Composition
This field identifies the top-level compositional work associated with a recording. SongKong uses it to connect movements and parts back to the overarching composition.

MusicBrainz Work Composition Id
MusicBrainz Work Composition Id stores the unique MusicBrainz identifier for the compositional work. SongKong relies on it to maintain stable work relationships across recordings.

MusicBrainz Work Part Level N N
This field represents the name of a hierarchical work part at level N, such as Act, Scene, or Movement. SongKong uses these fields to model complex classical and operatic structures.

MusicBrainz Work Part Level N Type
This field describes the type of work part at level N, such as “Act” or “Movement”. SongKong uses it to interpret and display the work hierarchy correctly.

MusicBrainz Work Part Level N Id
MusicBrainz Work Part Level N Id stores the MusicBrainz identifier for the corresponding work part. SongKong uses it to maintain precise hierarchical links between parts of a work.

Official Artist Site URL
This field stores the URL of an artist’s official website. SongKong preserves it as a reference link for users rather than using it directly in tagging or matching logic.

Official Release Site URL
Official Release Site URL contains a link to an official webpage for the specific release, such as a label or artist page. SongKong stores this for reference and verification purposes.

Opus
Opus stores the opus number assigned to a musical work, commonly used in classical music. SongKong uses this as part of its classical work identification and normalization process.

Orchestra
Orchestra identifies the orchestra performing on the recording. SongKong treats this as a core performance credit in classical music, distinct from conductor and ensemble fields.

Orchestra Sort
Orchestra Sort contains a normalized, sortable version of the orchestra name. SongKong uses it to ensure consistent alphabetical ordering without affecting the displayed name.

Original Album
Original Album stores the album title from the track’s first release. SongKong preserves this when tracks appear on compilations, reissues, or box sets to retain historical context.

Original Album Year
This field records the date the original album was released. SongKong uses it to distinguish original releases from later remasters or reissues.

Original Artist
Original Artist identifies the original performer of the work. SongKong uses this to distinguish cover versions and reinterpretations from the original recording.

Original Lyricist
Original Lyricist stores the lyricist credited on the original version of the work. SongKong preserves this for historical accuracy when later versions differ.

Original Year
Original Year records the date the track or work was first released, independent of the current album’s release date. SongKong uses it for chronological sorting across compilations.

Overall Work
Overall Work identifies the top-level musical work that encompasses movements, parts, or sections. SongKong uses this field to support hierarchical work-based browsing in classical music.

Part Number
Part Number stores the numeric ordering of a part within a movement or work. SongKong uses it to ensure correct sequencing during playback.

Part Type
Part Type describes the kind of subdivision used for a part, such as “Act”, “Scene”, or “Variation”. SongKong uses it to interpret complex work structures correctly.

Performer
Performer identifies individuals or groups who performed on the recording. SongKong uses this role-based field to preserve detailed performance credits beyond the primary artist.

Performer Name
Performer Name stores the name associated with a performer role entry. SongKong uses it internally to structure performer credits consistently.

Performer Name Sort
This field contains a sortable version of the performer’s name. SongKong uses it to ensure performers are ordered predictably in library views.

Producer
Producer credits the individual responsible for overseeing the recording or production. SongKong preserves this role as part of the release’s production metadata.

Producer Sort
Producer Sort contains a normalized version of the producer’s name for sorting purposes. SongKong uses it to maintain consistent alphabetical ordering.

Recording Start Date
Recording Start Date stores the date when recording sessions began. SongKong preserves this field for detailed historical and archival metadata.

Recording End Date
This field records the date when recording sessions ended. SongKong uses it alongside Recording Start Date to provide context about the production timeline.

Recording Location
Recording Location identifies where the recording took place, such as a studio or concert venue. SongKong preserves this information for completeness and historical reference.

Release Country
Release Country indicates the country where the release was issued. SongKong uses this to differentiate regional editions of the same album.

Release Status
Release Status describes the publication state of the release, such as official, promotional, or bootleg. SongKong preserves this to reflect the release’s legitimacy.

Release Type
Release Type categorizes the nature of the release, such as album, single, EP, or compilation. SongKong uses this to adjust tagging and grouping behavior.

Remixer
Remixer identifies the individual who created a remix of the original recording. SongKong preserves this role to distinguish remixes from original mixes and recordings.

Script
Script identifies the writing system used for textual metadata, such as Latin, Cyrillic, or Japanese. SongKong preserves this field to support multilingual libraries and correct text rendering.

Section
Section identifies a structural subdivision within a larger work, often used in classical or operatic recordings. SongKong uses this to preserve hierarchical work structure without overloading track titles.

Single Disc Track No
This field stores a flattened track number that ignores disc boundaries, numbering tracks sequentially across all discs. SongKong uses it for players or workflows that require continuous numbering.

Subtitle
Subtitle provides additional descriptive text associated with a track or work, such as alternate titles or explanatory phrases. SongKong keeps this separate from the main Title to maintain clarity.

Title
Title contains the primary display name of the track. SongKong normalizes titles to remove redundant information while preserving official naming and clarity.

Title Sort
Title Sort stores a normalized version of the title optimized for alphabetical sorting. SongKong uses it to ensure predictable ordering without changing what is displayed.

Total Discs
Total Discs records the number of discs in a multi-disc release. SongKong uses this alongside Disc Number to ensure correct album structure.

Total Tracks
Total Tracks stores the total number of tracks on the disc or release. SongKong uses it to provide complete track context in players.

Track Number
Track Number identifies the track’s position on its disc. SongKong ensures this value matches the authoritative release to preserve correct playback order.

Wikipedia Artist Site URL
This field stores a link to the artist’s Wikipedia page.

Wikipedia Release Site URL
Wikipedia Release Site URL contains a link to a Wikipedia page describing the release.

Work
Work identifies the underlying musical work to which the recording belongs. SongKong treats this as a core field for classical music organization and work-based browsing.

Work Type
Work Type describes the category of the musical work, such as Symphony, Opera, or Concerto. SongKong uses it to enhance classical structure and filtering.

Year
Year is usually the same as Album Year but it can be the same as Original Album Year depending on SongKong configuration.
