Since updating SongKong to 4.13 it keeps hanging when it gets to the same number of files. It doesn’t actually say it has crashed but there is nothing to suggest that it is actually doing anything. Please see attached screen shot.
Thanks
Chris

Hi, please run Help:Create Support Files
Hi - Have just sent the report in.
This time it hung on about 5800 songs loaded.
Thanks in advance.
Chris
Hi Chris I have just sent you a private messages
The report only shows about 1000 files processed, but why are you selecting all subfolders of /Volumes/Multimedia separately ?
Can you run again but just selected /Volumes/Multimedia please.
Hi Paul,
I didn’t (I don’t think!) select them all individually, I just told SongKong to look at the multimedia file and that was it…am i doing something wrong?
Sorry I meant that only 5800 songs had loaded - but yes, probably only 1000 of them processed.
Thanks
Chris
You have selected folders within the /Volumes/multimedia folder, you just need to select the /Volumes/multimedia itself, then in the report summary you will see just one folder selected rather than the large list you have now. please give that a go.
Thanks - will give this a go.
Hi Paul,
Tried leaving my laptop going all day today and just selecting the multimedia file and have come home to find it has done the same thing.
It always gets to around 8200 songs loaded and then falls over. I have submitted a support file as well.
Thanks
Chris
In the last logs there does seem to be an issue with renaming files that I don’t fully understand, could you please:
Restart SongKong
Run File:Empty Database
Start Fix Songs, but set Rename files based on metadata to No
Press Start
Hi Paul,
Happy to do this but when I do it says I won’t be able to undo any changes made - is this ok?!
Could it be that it was running on files stored on my NAS and connected over wifi, is it worth me hard wiring into the NAS and then trying to re-run?

Songkong has an Undo facility, but its reset when you recreate the database. So if you do want to Undo any changes made please do now before recreating database, othwrwise okay to go ahead.

That may not be the cause of the problem, but that will certainly help so yes try that as well as having Rename disabled
Thanks Paul,
I have done as you have suggested, have also hard wired the laptop into a network switch (which is then attached to NAS); and pressed start. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for your help so far.
Hi Paul,
In the end i think plugging the laptop directly into the network solved the issue and I managed to get SongKong to run over night quite well.
I now have another question about deleting duplicates. I have my folders set up so that all of them are album artists. e.g.
“Multimedia/BruceSpringstein/GreatestHits”
However I have another folder which contains a whole load of individual music files which I know many are duplicates of those in their proper artist folders. However when I run remove duplicates it doesn’t seem to pick these up. They are in a folder located as:
“Multimedia/@A”
So my technique is to run remove duplicates across the whole Multimedia folder - am I doing something wrong? I used the function “Same MusicBrainz song and same album (any version)”…
Thanks
Have the songs in Multimedia folder had Fix Songs applied to them.
If not, then they wont have MusicBrainz Ids
If you have isn’t it likely they have been matched to same song but different album, since many songs can be found on multiple albums.
If you send me your support files again and an example of what you think shoudl be deleted I’ll be able to answer better.
