I think I figured it out…Here’s a screen shot from the file manager of my NAS, then sort tags from MinimServer.
Notice the crazy characters in the title of file 5?? Those don’t show up when I use the Server function of the NAS.
I renamed the file and deleted the goofy character and viola, the file appears…! Roon also shows file 5
Sometimes there are multiple symbols that look very similar but are different unicode character, think apostrophes and quotes. The song title has a ? at the end so I reckon is that at some stage the file was renamed and used a version of the ? character but not the standard one on your Mac, (in fact the standard one is not a valid charcter to use as a filename as it has special meaning) and then when it was copied over to the Nas it didnt like the character or it got converted to something that is now not visible to yor Mac so was only valid when accessed locally on the Nas.
So I dont have exact answer but that is the sort of scenario that probably happened at some point.
I’m rechecking the files that started with"C", that’s when the trouble started. I ran into an issue with the Cars, but I went into Metadatics and deleted all music brainzID metadata. I had to copy/paste the titles because this file had the “BUG”. Once I did that, it looked good.
I do have another ? Is this error something to be concerned about? How do I get the data into MusicBrainz?
Okay, but you didn’t have to do anything with Metadatics, all you should need to do is rerun Fix Songs on the folder with option set to Rematch
So its not an error, it is just informing you the album could not be matched to MusicBrainz because the album is not in MusicBrainz.
Now anyone can add data to MusicBrainz, and if your songs have consistent data you can use the Add to MusicBrainz task, this will open the MusicBrainz Add Release html form with the data filled in as much as possible from the metadata in your files. But if you have never used MusicBrainz directly before there is a bit of a learning curve, you will need to open a free Musicbrainz account, and there are rules for adding data to MusicBrainz
The spreadsheet is stored in the reports folder with the rest of the report on the computer that SongKong is installed on, so since you are using on a Mac this will be within Library:Preferences:SongKong:Reports
Now when you click on the View as Spreadsheet link because your browser cannot view the spreadsheet within the browser it downloads a copy for you to view within spreadsheet application. the location is simply the default location configured for your browser which is Downloads, this is not controlled by SongKong.
