Request: Rename report list what files were actually changed

I have been running into an issue where I am ‘losing’ songs and it appears because songkong is putting some/certain songs into the wrong folder(s). For example: from DeleteDuplicatesReport00057

You can see the 2 I circled are Megadeth songs but were ‘found’ in the ZZ Top folder. Here is the Liar file as shown in Picard:
Picard

That folder /music songkong created all subfolders and placed all songs into those folders so I don’t understand how in this case 2 Megadeath songs were placed with ZZ Top.

====================================

So this is what I am asking here is the latest Rename Files showing there was 18 files “renamed”

I don’t see a means to see what songs were renamed. I want to be able to see what files were renamed either on the error and warning page or on the spreadsheet so that I can better identify what files may have been put into the wrong folders

I have created and sent a support file but I don’t know how much good it will do as those were sorted months ago

Hi, go to Browse:Browse by Folder

Set the Update Filter to Updated shows all the folders that have renamed files

Go into the Megadeth folder

We can see Liar has been renamed from ZZ Top folder

because the Metadata is Megadeth.

This happened after the Delete Duplicates because this is report 58, Delete Duplicates was repotrt 57

Does that help?

Did some more research after FixSongs00044Report Liar was still in the Megadeth folder

You then ran a series of Delete Duplicates tasks a number of times.

By the time you run FixSongs00056Report the file had already been moved to the ZZtop folder, but not by FixSongs becuase this does not rename files

There are no Rename Files tasks between Report00044 and Report00056 only Delete Duplicates tasks, and Delete Duplicates does not rename any files it can only delete files or moved them to the Deleted folder with the same file structure

DeleteDuplicates00057 did not move them to ZZtop folder, they were already in that folder before DeleteDuplicates00057 was run

So I guess that maybe they were moved by another application or inadvertently by yourself.

Narrowed it now further DeleteDuplicatesReport0054 moved /music/Megadeth/07 - Liar.flac to /music/_DUPLICATES/Megadeth/07 - Liar.flac

So that would imply the file no longer exists in /music/Megadeth or /music/ZZtop and that some external process must have put it into ZZtop folder ?

DeleteDuplicates00054 and DeletedDuplicates00055 process /music folder with 6748 files, but the FixSongs00056 processes /music with 16,581 songs so did you copy a load of new files into the /music folder inbetween task 55 and task 56?

Thanks for showing the way to view what was changed

To answer your various questions:

  1. everything in those folders was assigned / created by songkong but unfortunately I no longer had those reports as they were initially generated over a year ago
  2. I was using the folder with various number of songs to get a better feel what songkong was doing. (basically testing). It is easier for me to test between 6 to 8k songs
  3. So yes I moved over another 10k files for songkong to test out

I have come across more issue’s with what the app is doing. I’ll post some of what I have run across when I get the time
