Match One Album sometimes doesnt work

I’ve noticed this a few times now. For example, I am trying to match:
https://www.discogs.com/release/19308793-Bob-Marley-The-Wailers-The-Complete-Island-Recordings

I have each CD of this box set in separate subfolders (Disc 01, Disc 02, etc) within the main one. Match One Album shows the error that it cant find a mapping. I have force low score enabled.

Any ideas?

Not without seeing your logs, please run Create Support Files

Apologies. Support files created.

HI, its because their are some discrepancies between the track lengths of your songs and the tracks lengths on the release. For example you have track length of TrenchTown Rock as 4:22 but Discogs has it only as 4:00, too many discrepancies over 10 seconds and SongKong does not allow the match even if you allow low scoring releases because it seems impossible for it to be the correct match unless the details have been entered into Discogs incorrectly or your rip has additional padding after the recording.

It would be better if this information was shown in User Interface rather than hidden in the log files.

Interestingly the same release on MusicBrainz seems to agree with your track lengths, so if you match to this one instead it should work.

The 4.00 time seems to be the right time for the Vinyl version, maybe the user who entered the CD version on Discogs just copied the times from the vinyl version

I have raised an issue to better report track duration issues

https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-3030

Thank you. Do you think it makes sense to have a manual override to force the match even when Songkong identifies issues such as this? I think this makes sense because people would use Match to One Album because they want a specific match.

An override after informing you of the issues could be useful but in first instance SongKong should protect you from matching to releases that appear to be correct but have issues as in this case rather than matching regardless.

So for next release if specify an id we are a bit more relaxed about some of the tests and act as if Force Allow Poor Match option has been enabled, so that option is now removed it is the default. And if there are issues preventing a match we have improved the error reporting.

Making some more improvements detailed here

So I have improved the View Details screen

image

And the plan is to open this automatically if you match to a particular release you specified and the score was low, if the score is okay then we don’t open the window but it is available by selecting View Details button as before

If impossible to do match then we get the cancel only dialog with details of why not possible to continue
