Having Trouble Matching/ Renaming An Album

Hi
I’ve purchased an album from Bandcamp.

It’s in Discogs (brand new entry) so I tried the Match To One Album option, entered the Discogs URL and it was unable to match anything.

I then thought I’d try Bandcamp Match. This did find all of the songs and they came up as matched OK. But when I ran Rename Files afterwards, the songs were not renamed and were moved into the Unmatched Folder.

Could you look to see what’s gone wrong here?

I assume you mean this album - it doesn’t match to Discogs because matching uses our cached Albunack database for MusicBrainz and Discogs and because this release was recently added to Discogs it is not in cache yet. If enter a Url we will retrieve directly from MusicBrainz if not in Albunack but we don’t currently do this for Discogs release, this would certainly be useful improvement so I have created an issue for this.

Actually, this doesn’t seem to have matched, not sure why not but the Bandcamp matching uses the website directly which is a bit flaky. But this is why the subsequent Rename Files moved files to the Unmatched Folder

Yes, it is that album.

Although it’s recently been added to Discogs, it’s been on Bandcamp for some months, although I understand that Bandcamp database is not cached, so that shouldn’t have an effect.

Is my only option now to wait until the Discogs cache has been updated? Any way of knowing when that’s happened?

Is there any other way of getting these renamed into the correct format before I move them into my library?

I dont know why it is not being matched to Bandcamp, if you could send me a copy of the files i can look into this.

So the rename comprises two parts:

• Rename mask
• Base Folder
  The files have been renamed okay except they have been put into your Move Unmatched Folder /music/To Be Checked/Detection Questionable rather than the Move Folder /music/Library because the songs are not matched to MusicBrainz, Discogs or Bandcamp

But you can easily mark these as matched to Discogs by using Manual Edit:

• Select Folder
• Select Manual Edit
• Switch to Other tab
• Enter value into Discogs Album Url e.g https://www.discogs.com/release/37800234

Then if you rerun Rename Files the files will now be put into /music/Library

Okay bad news, Bandcamp have added additional restrictions to their website that means it only works if accessed via a web-browser. This breaks the Bandcamp search, and there is no easy solution, raised https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-3008 to consider further.
