I need to archive around 4,000 CD singles, and I estimate that about 50% of them will have incorrect metadata from online databases. I’ve already processed around 300 CDs, and 128 of them were tagged incorrectly—most with data from completely different releases or unknown artists.
I tried using SongKong to fix this, but it didn’t work for me. It’s quite possible I made a mistake during setup. Could you please help me configure SongKong to use audio fingerprinting properly?
Hi, okay I see the main problem.
You ran Fix Songs against a sample of 222 songs, however you selected the Add new metadata only profile, this means that it doesnt overwrite existing data
So even though it identified many of your tracks
because they already had a value of Unknown Artist in the AlbumArtist field that does not get overwritten and nor does the Title or Album fields if they already had values.
so when you run Rename Files because those fields are part of your rename mask many end up in an Unknown Artist or unknown artist folder
So rerunning Fix Songs with the Default profile and then then rerun Rename Files should solve that problem. I suggest you try that first and then re-run Create Support Files then I can give you some additional advice about improving the remainder.
