Is there a way to have Jaikoz set the year to the earliest release of the song? I have smart folders set up for music in years by decade, just in case I’m in the mood for all '60s music today. It is currently setting all the years to the album release date, which makes sense, but I want the year to be by earliest release date by song.
1b. Currently I am having Jaikoz ignore the year field unless it is empty, but I’m continuing my corrections anyway. If #1 is doable, is there an easy (and fast) way to have it ONLY correct the year?
It doesn’t appear that Jaikoz is automatically filling in or correcting the genre when tagging data from MusicBrainz. I would like it to correct the genre as well, especially if it is missing altogether. Is it possible?

What you need to is get Jaikoz to pick the earliest release that the song is on, then that releases release date should be ok. Thre are a few things you should set.
In Music/Format Preferences for ‘When selecting year and country of release prefer to use Earliest Release Date’ it defaults to ‘Country’
In Musicbrainz/Match make sure in ‘Prefer releases of the following types’
that Compilation is NOT selected and in Musicbrainz Match Score increase the weighting of ‘Release is one of the preferred release types’.
In Musicbrainz/Match enable ‘Retrieve extended release Details for more accurate ratings’
Well you could change the format options of all the other fields to ‘Never populate this field’ and change Year to ‘Always Populate this field’ . Then run ‘Update Tags from MusicBrainz Id’ - but its going to take nearly as long as running ‘Update Tags from MusicBrainz Id’ on all fields.
Musicbrainz doesnt contain genre information, although they have recently added user tags. These tags may be interpreted as genres but at the moment very few tracks have them anyway. High on the priority of new features is support for last.fm genres.
