Will amazon.com be included as a feed on next release?

Hi Paul.

One of the things I see missing is lots of Art work not being picked up with either MusicBrainz nor with Discogs. However, Amazon.com has the album arkwork for many songs.

Are you planning on using amazon data for things like Art work any time soon?

Muisicbrainz does use Amazon, but you need a match on Musicbrainz before it can use the Amazon artwork, and not all Amazon artwork can be linked.

+1 on Amazon

I love that you support Discogs and Musicbrainz but sometimes they just aren’t enough. I have some classical music that has metadata on Amazon but no release in Musicbrainz or Discogs. The only option I have on Linux is to find some other software that will update from Amazon. I’m not saying I’d use it a lot and I will always prefer Muscibrainz/Discogs but there are times when there simply are no other options.

Why find other software when you have gold ? Just fill fields in musicbrainz and update ! Every other person will thankyou very much. Benefit for others. Love Comunity !

When you have thousands of songs, Auto Tagging becomes very important.

I am not sure in what capacity Jaikoz uses Amazon for Album artwork, but it appears to me that there is a lot of Album artwork at Amazon that Jaikoz is not picking up.

Artwork at Amazon can be stored in a number of different urls , only some can be worked out from the ASIN (Amazon ID)

You may want to take a look at mediamonkey. It finds lots of album work from Amazon.com. It would be wonderful if I Jaikoz would lookup Album work the same way.

True, but with MediaMonkey you still need to go through 1 album at a time. It would be nice if MediaMonkey could scan all albums and then give a report summary. It would be a lot more practical for large album collections people have.

It can! There is a plug in called something like album extractor and it does just that.

My point is that Jaikoz is a much superior program and it should be able to do just as good if not better.

Are you talking about Album Art Extractor? Yeah that can be useful, but I was referring to downloading art (and info) from Amazon.

MediaMonkey can search Amazon quite well. It searches for entire albums and gets all Art (and other info) in a very nice window. But it can not get Album Art (and other info) for 100 albums at the same time. You need to do it one album at a time which can be tedious. (Unless know something that I’ve missed)

On the other hand Jaikoz is fantastic for getting info for 1000 random unrelated songs all at once, but I find it less trustworthy for getting info for 100 complete and full albums. (Of course I’ve just starting using it this week, so I’m not an expert) but it seems to search one song at a time as opposed to looking for an entire album. That seems to leave 1 or 2 songs per album that may have different tags then the rest of the songs if you’re not careful.

The one I was refering to is called “Batch Art Finder 4.0” and you can download it from:

It can be fully automated or you can pick and choose - depending how brave you feel.

If you feel brave and trust it, you can simply select update all after it is done finding album artwork, or you can pick and choose the ones you want. But to answer your question, yes it can be fully automated. You let it run and when done, say update all.

Make sure to look at the options for this script to make the album artwork part of the tag inside the mp3 song. Also, make sure you pick “Google” for the artwork as it finds a ton more.

I wish Jaikoz did but it currently does not. Album art work is the weak part of Jaikoz in my opinion.

Maybe we can ask Paul to add it to the next release since the free version listed above works better.

No, that isn’t correct - Jaikoz groups songs into likely grouping and tries to match album at a time, but then goes onto matching individual songs if it couldn’t match the grouping to one album. You can restrict it to only match complete albums by enabling Preferences : Remote Correct : Only match complete releases

Paul, can you add an option to use Google for finding Album Art work? You will get a lot more hits using Google for Album Art work than Amazon, MusicBrains, Discogs, etc.

Ive always been of the opinion that searching for artwork on Google is difficult to do reliably compared to getting artwork from a dedicated Music website like Discogs, but I will take a look.

Obviously picking artwork for one album and letting the user choose the artwork is easy, but leaving it to fix the artwork for 1000 songs is a bit different.

Google is amazing for finding just about anything and I think they are getting better at it each day.

As an example, I ran the script I mentioned before on about 10k worth of songs that Jaikoz could not find any album art work for, the google process found around ~80% accurate art work.

Yes, it’s not perfect, but I will take 80% any day over Zero or close to 0% percent.

What that process has which I like, is that I can see what it picked and I can then select one-by-one or all at one time. I am not that brave, so I do one at a time. But this is a LOT faster than googling Album art work by hand and cutting and pasting.

Thanks Paul for consider it.

Yes you are correct, now. I used 3.8.3 and it would group 8 out of 10 songs as an album and treat the other 2 songs as singles. But now I upgraded to 3.9.0 and changed some setting (not sure which ones) and now Jaikoz is WAY better. I’m not sure if it was the upgrade or the settings, but I am matching everything! No problems.
