Which file does Jaikoz del when it dels a dup?

Hi, I am going through my collection to try to get rid of duplicates with Jaikoz and understand how it finds dups based on IDs but it is not clear to me when it files a file with duplicate ids what criteria it uses to delete. So my question is what criteria does Jaikoz use to select which file to delete like bit rates or file types etc. I am hoping there is a way to have it select the file with the lower bit rate to delete but just want to be sure before i start.

Any clarification would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Jaikoz can match over different formats, i.e mp3 and mp4. So the first criteria is worst quality format (i.e mp3 is worse quality than flac), if the format is the same then it uses bit rate, if that is the same the choice is essentially arbitary.

Got it, thanks!

Hi, I was sifting through my collection again to get rid of some duplicates and I noticed that Jaikoz was sometimes selecting (for example) 192kbps and 256kbps mp3 duplicates for deletion over 128kbps ogg files. I have heard that ogg is a bit better but is a 128kbps ogg/vorbis audio file really higher quality than a 256kbps MPEG-1 lay3 audio file or is this a bug?

Also along the lines of finding duplicates, is it possible to make up custom filters? For examples:
just show Mp3s with kbps of 128 or less?

or

by AcusticID AND MB Release ID and Artist

I’m afraid it always prefers Ogg Vorbis to Mp3. What you could do is just use the Filters menu to let Jaikoz show you the duplicates, then you can decide which ones to delete yourself.

There a number of filters available, but you cannot create custom ones, however you can filter results further by using the filter/search box

Doh that is really too bad. I had started off doing it manually but it was taking me forever hence my posting. As for the filters I will head over to the wishlist part of the forum

Thanks for the prompt reply,
