Hello there! I’m looking for the perfect settings for SongKong so I can properly tag my thousands of messy MP3 files—or get them tagged correctly using MusicBrainz Picard. I have tracks that lack artist, title, or album info—for example, files named like - .mp3, or _Artist_Title_Genre_, or even just - - Fresh Fox & Marco Lesentin - Fieber Der Nacht - [Pop].mp3. Can SongKong handle this? And how do I configure it correctly?

What is the best way to tag my MP3 files with SongKong?
Yes, first just run the SongKong Fix Songs task first with Preview Only and Default profile.
Check the results in the report, if you are happy them just run Apply Preview task to save the changes for real.
Note this will first fix the metadata in the tags not the filenames, SongKong can fix the filename with another task but should not do this until have sorted out the metadata in the tags first.
If not happy with results, then run Create Support Files to upload the report and come back to the forum where I can help with anything you don’t like and what options to change.

In your opinion, does it make sense to post-process the music files with MusicBrainz Picard after using SongKong? Or would you say that SongKong’s tagging is sufficient on its own? I’m asking as a mobile DJ because I rely on smart playlists that search for artists or tracks based on criteria like the track title, energy level, or genre. I use Traktor Pro 4 as my DJ software.
My goal is to create a completely perfect music library in the foreseeable future—so that I don’t end up with multiple folders full of music files simply because certain tracks or pieces of music weren’t recognized!
SongKong add more metadata and more accurately than Picard. So there isn’ really anything to gain from running Picard unless you have a particular scenario it can help with.
Okay… but what was the outcome regarding the support data? How do I properly handle these leftover MP3 files so that they end up perfectly tagged? What exact settings and workflow do I need to use to achieve a satisfactory result?

I need some context from you
It seems you ran Fix Songs 1 back on June 5th and it looks to have matched most of your albums, but that you cancelled report creation so the report is incomplete I can’t see the summary pages.
Then you ran Fix Songs 2 on 146 files
Then you did some more recent runs on a small set of files Fix Songs 3 (41 files) and Fix Songs 4 (10 songs), so are you asking me about these two recent runs or the full run done back in June ?
Regarding these recent runs they seem to be a collection of random songs all in a single folder. Usually (as with your original Fix Songs 1 run) songs are organized as one folder = one album or one disc of album. Since most songs are avaialble on multiple albums (e.g different versions of original albums/artists greatest hits albums/various artists albums) it is very difficult to be sure of the right album to match to.
We can do song only matching when we add fields like song title, artist but not fields like album, album artist and trackno. However it looks for these two folderts that the songs are not in Acoustid or MusicBrainz, and the Discogs matching will not work if the songs are not already organized into album folders.
So for this small group of files I would suggest you manually organize into album folders if you recognise the songs and then for each album try to use Match to One Album task to see if a match can be found, if it cannot manual editing is required.
For the majority of your collection it looks like most have already been corrected. But I would run Fix Songs again over the whole collection so we have an updated and complete report we can look at.
Oh… sorry… no… I think my last support file was number 5 or 6! I probably didn’t delete the old ones; I’ll have to check where I can delete them. However, I’ve already received a lot of help with my files via SongKong… I ran a folder using the standard “Fix Songs” settings, and almost all the files were recognized. Now I just need to do some final tweaking with MP3Tag! (File names… title, artist, etc.)
