Hello, I just purchased Jaikoz to clean up my extensive iTunes library. One of the main things I want to address is having an Artist of “Various Artists” on complilations (something like “Super Hits of the '70s”). What I want is to have the Artist be the true artist and the album artist be “Various Artists”. However, I want to leave the album name to be that of the compilation. I have been getting the PUID and then doing the ManualCorrect option. But what I want is only to update the artist, not everything. When I pick one of the manually suggested songs, it appears to copy ALL the information down to the edit window. But I don’t want all the information, I just want the artist. What’s the best way to do this? I haven’t saved anything out because I’m paranoid about screwing everything up without knowing for sure how to do it. Great program and thanks in advance for any help.
Various Artists on Compilations
Ok, if the only thing you want to update is the Artist go to Preferences/Musicbrainz/Format and change the values for all the fields except Artist and Album Artist to Never Populate this Field, then set all the fields in Preferences/Musicbrainz/Format2 the sdame way.
That should do want you want, but is maybe a little drastic I would advise it make sense to actually change the other fields to Populate this field only if empty that way you get extras info put into your SOngs but none of your original info is overwritten.
