Two more fields

First…awesome product! (And I don’t use “awesome” like I used to when I was a teenager  )

I only use it to clean up tagging…and recently…to help move files around in directories. Two other things that would be really handy:

– a “base file name” field that, if edited, would change everything but the extension. I deal with the same talks encoded in various forms…and it would be handy to be able to change .wma and .mp3 file names at the same time without whacking the extension.
– adding the length (time) of a recording to the fields that can be listed

I realize the first one might be a bit complicated (e.g. what happens if, after changing the base file name of multiple files you end up with duplicate file names in the same directory?)…and it doesn’t even cover my needs entirely (e.g. I have the same talk encoded like FILENAMElow.wma, FILENAME.wma, FILENAME.mp3 FILENAMElarge.mp3 based on file size)…but the way you handle changing directories so well makes me think this would be a beneficial addition.

The second one is just a bit of info that would be great to see in table form.

Thanks for “listening” and your great program…

This already happen really, if you edit the filename within a table view and don’t add the extension it gets entered automaticallly. So you could copy and paste the same basename to ten songs of different audio types, and they would get their extensions fixed accordinly, also it checks for duplciates names and if there are any adds an extra count to the name to prevent duplicates such as (1)

Its not in the EditView because you cannot edit this field, but if You select View/Show View Pane and look at the View Audio tab there is a Playing Time column.
