Trying to associate tracks to a MusicBrainz release

I select all of the tracks for a CD I just ripped and try the “Autocorrect” function - no corrections are made. So, I look online at MusicBrainz for the release … and I handily find the proper artist and release.

So, I grab the MBID for the release off of MusicBrains and try to use “Action | Match to Album | Match selected songs to specified MusicBrains release” and paste the MBID form musicbrainz’ release details page. Jaikoz comes back with an error message “Unable to find a suitable release for the selected songs.” REALLY? I’m telling you the release ID … how can you not find any info?

Huh?
HELP!

Have you pasted a Mbid with trailing spaces or something, this would prevent it working (but is resolved in next release)

Yes - I tested that (and other extraneous characters) by pasting the MBID into notepad, then copying from there and pasting straight into Jaikoz. Then I tried typing it directly. For some releases it works (copy/paste from webpage), but for others it seems determined not to work.

I checked the file lengths for the ones that don’t work an it appeared that some (Perhaps 4 of 10) of the tracks were off by 1-2 seconds. Since I’m certain of the release these files came from (I ripped them from my collection), is there any way to force Jaikoz to just assign the release (without manually typing into every track)?

Nerp

I found that the easy way to work around the problem was to add the MusicBrainz columns to the normal view and use copy/paste to assign the correct MB release and artist. Generally, once all of the tracks were set to a single release, the autoupdate function seemed to work ok and ID the correct tracks.

i haven’t been able to get MB release id or discogs release ID to work yet, would really make things easier if it worked

The current release does work for me, and you havent given much details of what you are actually doing but I would suggest trying the beta release anyway.

i am using the beta, and i thought it was self explanatory, i goto musicbrainz or discogs, get the release ID, select the the item from the action menu, input the ID, and it’s unsuccessful everytime, tried on several different albums.

Okay, it does work in the general sense (Ive just retried it) but please not even if you tell Jaikoz the release to match the tracks to Jaikoz cannot match against the release unless it is happy each track matches the Musicbraizn metadata sufficiently.

For each track needs a match on track title and/or trackno/track duration.

If a tracks duration is not within 15 seconds of the Musicbrainz track then it will definently be rejected.

Please do a comparison and see if you can see the issue, (I guess it would make sense for Jaikoz to tell you why it didnt match) , if you send me your support files using Advanced/Create Support Files i might be able to tell from the logs.

no problem, i will take a closer look the next time i encounter the problem, now that i know what to look for in comparison, thanks and if it looks ok to me, i’ll send the support files

In beta 2 Jaikoz will now tell you why it didn’t match to a a specific musicbrainz release.

great, thanks!
