Trouble matching songs to ORIGINAL release

Hi,

I have a mix of “singles” from the 60’s and 70’s, and Jaikoz keeps matching these songs to releases from the 2000’s

The song tags are empty except for Artist and Title which are correct. I’m mainly interested in filling in the “Original” Album field.

Is there anyway for Jaikoz to find the Album a song was first released on by using only the Artist and Track fields?

Thanks.

P.S. It’s possible that some of these songs came from a recent remastered cd, as opposed to the original vinyl release, of course, but I’m not sure if that matters.

Hi,try enabling:

Musicbrainz:Automatch:Do extra searches to find Original Releases
Musicbrainz:Format:Put Original Release Year into Release Year
Remote Correct:Match:Prefer do not match to Various Artist compilations
Remote Correct:Match:Preferred Media Format:Vinyl

and this should improve things.

However if your songs are remastered then they may have a different acoustid, therefore in that case you are basically asking Jaikoz to match to the wrong release.

Where things have gone wrong you can force a set of songs to be matched to a particular release using

Action:Match to Release:Match to Specified Musicbrainz Release

Musicbrainz:Automatch:Do extra searches to find Original Releases ~ Already was checked
Musicbrainz:Format:Put Original Release Year into Release Year ~ Will change it and try again
Remote Correct:Match:Prefer do not match to Various Artist compilations ~ Already was checked
Remote Correct:Match:Preferred Media Format:Vinyl ~ Already was checked

I also had checked ->

do not match to Single Artist compilations
and match albums instead of singles and eps

Where things have gone wrong you can force a set of songs to be matched to a particular release using
Action:Match to Release:Match to Specified Musicbrainz Release

Yeah, I tried that - but doesn’t that consist of going to the Musicbrainz website and manually searching through the database and then finding and inputting the MB ids? If so, that’s a lot of work for 50+ songs…

Thanks

Okay setting Musicbrainz:Format:Put Original Release Year into Release Year may at least put a date you are happy with in the year field. Even if it isnt actually matching to the earliest version of the release you want you wouldn’t notice this from in your player if the year was set to the earliest.

Yes that does consist of going to the Musicbrainz website but you only have to do it for the one’s that have gone wrong. You can also use Match to One Release, here you don’t have to find a release but you say to Jaikoz that unless it can match all the songs to one release don’t match anything at all.

But the point is this, if the songs based on their acoustid and metadata are still a better match for Release A rather than Release B even after Release B is getting a boost from your options (because its Vinyl, older ecetera) its difficult to expect Jaikoz to automatically select Release A regardless.

You could also try out Manual Correct from MusicBrainz, although its looks track based the context menu lets you modify multiple tracks to match one release, you can also do a Musicbrainz search within it instead of having to go to the Musicbrainz website.

Also, I forgot to say make sure you set your Preferred Countries list.

Paul,

I have 5.6.0 Pro.

I went to Jaikoz preference and went to the musicbrainz:Automatch but I do not see any of these options. Can you point me to the right place.

Robert

Sorry the first option is in Remote Correct:Match because it applies to Musicbrainz and Discogs.
