To Tag or Not Tag the Artwork

1st Jaikoz is awesome!

2nd The player I use is Foobar2000 which will pull the Artwork from the folder that the music is located in.

3rd I am only dealing with Albums

My Folder layout is:
Artist - Album (Year)
Artist - Album (Year) Cd#

** I know this is not for everyone but If you like the idea please make a comment **

Feature Request:
Add option that changes what Jaikoz does with the Artwork

  1. Add option to put the Artwork in the folder of where the music is located and NOT in the IdTag. (ID3vX, APEvX or Vorbis)

  2. User definable: The File Name for each type of Artwork (Front, Front-Full, Inside, Inlay, Booklet, Back, Cd, or Cd1 Cd2).
If Artwork Type are not known then filename would be incremented with JaikozArt01, JaikozArt02, JaikozArt03, with appropriate extension .jpg, .bmp etc
Otherwise default to the appropriate names (whatever the standard is)

  3. User definable: Set sub-folder of current music folder to put the Artwork files into.
    Example:
    \music\Aerosmith - Pump (1989)\
Artwork folder set to “JaikozArt” then the artwork would be put into
    \music\Aerosmith - Pump (1989)\JaikozArt\
As far as Sub-Folders it would let the user be able to review what Jaikoz grabbed vs. what the user already has for Album(s) Artwork.

Reason:
Cleaner: Only have a few image files. (Front, Back, Cd)

Easier: You can see with Window Explorer which ones you have (Front, Back, Cd, etc). If the column is enabled with in Win Explorer “Dimension” you see the Artworks resolution.

Accumulated size: As a music collection get bigger so does storing all this artwork.

Below is the results of a test I did

Test:
I took 61 Albums totaling 751 songs all in flac and all with Jaikoz assigned Album Art. I then did a properties on root folder to get Total Size

Then acquired Album Art for each of the folders (Albums) and put Artwork into each folder.
Minimum Artwork: Front, Back, Cd and all in at least 1000 pixels or better (jpg)
Additional Art was Inlay, Front-Full, Booklet (several pages)

I then used Jaikoz to delete all Album Art from every song.

Id tags with Album Art
25,446,658,179 bytes

Id tags without Album Art
24,821,086,722 bytes

Difference 625,571,457 bytes saving for 751 songs

Average per song 832,984 bytes

Let say one has 20,000 songs then one would save
16,659,680,000 bytes which is a lot of space 15+GB

Again If you like the idea please make a comment

Thanks

Interesting metrics. I will have to think of the space savings next time I think about reorging my collection.

For right now, I like the status quo.
