Tags and their purpose ...

Probably a once more repeated question, but it seems I can’t fid the right answer in a sound way.

It?s clear to me that the following tags are the minimum required for a good ID-ing of songs when playing them thru iTunes

• Artist
• Sort Artist
• Album
• Title
• Genre
• Track
• Track Total
• Artwork
• Year
• Disk N�
• Disc Total
• Compilation

But how/when to best use:

• Sort Album
• Album Artist
• Sort Album Artist
• Grouping

Any examples and/or suggestions are welcome.

Artist is only the track artist, but usually there is an overall artist for the whole album, this is the album artist

Sort Album Artist describes the order albums are sorted (i.e by ALbum Artisat)

Sort Album would thereotically order albums within a particular album artist. But I dont know anyone that uses this.

Grouping can be used to group songs by user decoded way. It also used to be used to group movements within a work but Itunes has now added dedicated fields for this.
