tagg destroying. or whatever i should call this problem.

files are playable,
problem occures often with the last version of jaikoz and the one before (3.7.0), although everything is correctly read from the internet-databases the files are saved with completly empty id3taggs (and before, the taggs were full.)

with another program (such as iTunes or Winamp) , or just that you’ve noticed these messages in tjhe log file.

they look empty just in the audio player, reopening with jaikoz displays them with all fields as saved.

this is random for every mp3.

so there are entire albums which won’t save and there are albums where some files are saved, some not.

So the problem is not that they are not saved, but that the fields cannot read by your Audio Player.

So which audio player are you using ?

Some players have problems with tags being synchronized and text encodings different to ISO-8859-1, whether or not these options are
applied depends on what data is in the metadata which might be why the problem seems to occur randomly. Other players prefer ID3v23 and
others ID3v24, you can change the tag version within Jaikoz.

If you email me a file I can see what options that particular file has which might be causing a problem.

I don’t know. I used to save files with jaikoz for quiet a long time now and it was always audacious i used and nothing went wrong. empty means, that i display the idd taggs in audacious (file preferences) and the fields are empty (not saved?)

filesystem i’m using is xfs, utf and so on mounted, so no problemo with special characters. it’s just like save, put in audacious, right click, empty. scrobbling: (null) - (null)

So this player http://audacious-media-player.org/ used read the files okay and now it doesnt.

As those links I posted show some of the default settings in Jaikoz have changed so it may be that in changing a preference default so that it works better in one program such as Windows Explorer but worse in your chosen player.

I will try and look at Audacious but I recommend you play with some of the save settings in Jaikoz and see if that fixes it for you.

No I dont think so, Audacious should just read the data from the file using the encoding specified in the file I think it more likely to be a problem in one of the areas Ive already suggested.

Preferences/Save/ID3 v2 Tag/Save Existing Fields using these Encoding Preferences

checked, if not you should.

If still not working see if the file is okay if copied to a local disk, and then if stil failing please send me a file.
