I just came across Jaikoz today. My primary interest is that I am starting a new library of hi-res music, mostly classical. I was happy to see you added dsf support in the December release. The web page also showed the software has a better understanding of classical music than most. I plan on using this with Plex software since it is not very useful to me without good tagging and Jaikoz looks like the best I have come across (easytag) did not work for me.

Here is my question: Many composers are listed with different spellings even though the field references the same person. I have read the DSF file format and ID3v2 documents and it appears that I could kludge something together in the comment field. What I want to do is choose a single spelling/name for a composer but list the alternates the recording had and all others. It also said that user defined fields could be created. Is likely to cause an interoperability problem with software like Plex?

Thanks so much.

Hi, I would suggest you just make use of the Preferences:Remote Correct:Remote Correct:Format:Use Artist Name on Cover instead whats displayed on the cover to ensure that Jaikoz uses the standard name for any people credited on the release rather than release variations when matching form MusicBrainz/Discogs.

You can enter whatever you like in the comment field but Im not totally sure it would be that useful and would seem like a huge task to completely manually but if you do want to capture the differences you could run Update Metadata from MusicBrainz afterwards with the option disabled and then you can see the changes that occur, and then copied the values of those changed fields into the comments fields, we also have five custom fields.

I cant forsee any issue with Plex as such.

hope that helps, Paul

Thanks very much for the speedy reply. I did not know enough about how the software worked to know about this feature. It sounds like you have this well thought out.

I will download your test Jaikoz software because I think it will be better for me than SongKong. Would you agree?

Thanks again.

Hi Jon

You could try both ?

I generally recommend SongKong first as the easiest to use and is actually slightly better for automatic matching, but Jaikoz does additionally provide manual editing.

Thanks. It sounds like – from some of the posts I have seen that some people use both. I appreciate it is hard for you to keep two updated especially when one is older.

Anyway, I will take your advice and see how SongKong works.
