I think I did something wrong a few days ago where many of the albums that had been fully populated have now split into different folders. I have tried everything that is documented to get those back together, but still cannot get them to do it unless I run “Match to one Album” for every album separately. I have over 700 albums, so cannot do that. I would appreciate some help getting these reorganized by Album. I have had some success with MusicBranz Picard but using two tools created many problems. Can you help me out?
Songs from Albums split into multiple folders
Hi, there are a few issues here.
I think the most critical is that when you run the Rename Files task you have set the mask to Artist/Album/Track - Artist - Title, this mask uses the Track Artist for the first folder rather than Album Artist so this means any compilation albums are going to have each song put into their own folder
The next issue is when you run the Fix Songs task you have For songs already fully matched set to Rematch. This means any existing valid match is ignored so if you run Rename Files it will split the songs into their own folders, then if you run Fix Songs it is likely to match these songs that are now in their own folder to a single release rather than the compilation album they were in.
And then also for some runs you unchecked Only allow matchig if all songs in grouping matched and this means it allows SongKong to just match indivdual songs rather than matching all songs in grouping to one album.
SongKong has an Undo Chnages feature but I see you have run it and it is complaining along the lines of
File C:\Users\Juan\Music\Matched\10cm\Crash Landing on You (Original Television Soundtrack), Pt. 1 (single)\01 - 10cm - But It’s Destiny.mp3 cannot be modified
Not sure why, might be because you have also modified songs with Picard.
Do you have a backup - restoring that would be the best thing to do if possible?
Unfortunately, I do not have a back up. I will try what you have suggested to see what I can do.
Okay, unforunately I’m way until Thursday so I cant really help much this week. It is worth noting you did have a Status Report before you started using SongKong which should be useful but I don’t have time to do a deeper analysis for you until end of next wwek.
