Songkong vs. Jaikoz: for custom song collections artwork

I used Jaikoz for year, but I am wondering if Songkong brings some advantage for this usecase:

Most of my songs are folders with my songs as custom collections.
E.g. Playlist EDM style some hundred files, Christmas 2024, Top Radio Hits 2024 etc.

My highest priority is that the songs get artwork. Also the songs should get an album entry. Because it is just single songs, I guess the songs need to get any album that normally contains the song. I’d prefer an album of the interpret over a sampler album. Maybe the first album with the song is best, but any later album containing the same would do the job as well.

Actually, I am wondering if the artwork needs the album. Some other tools allow to query for interpret and title. (finally, no other tool does satisfy me, so I prefer you software ;-))

Hi, yes could do this simply with SongKong as follows

  • Select Fix Songs task
  • Select Default profile
  • On the Basic tab uncheck the Only allow match if all songs in grouping match to album this will allow individual songs to be matched without having to match grouping to one album

  • If you only want to modify album artwork (and album ?) On the Format tab select the Never modify or add these fields and add all the other fields to this list

  • Select Start

This will then run and create a report showing results, you can do all this in preview mode without having to purchase a license to test it out. Within the report you can use Browse/Browse By Album to see artwork added. This new video shows how to use the report in more detail.

Songs do need to be matched to an album in order for SongKong to retrieve artwork, it is not a separate task.
