Songkong updating classical work name from Discogs, even though box was unticked

Songkong is giving a “Work” tag of the form
Concerto No. 3 In G, Bwv 1048

which is clearly derived from the improperly formatted information on the matched Discogs album. This is despite my unchecking “Update from Discogs” in the “Match” tab. The MusicBrainz information (also matched) is much better set out, albeit in German (which is not ideal either).

Any suggestions on how to best handle this?

Hi I’m away for a few days, so will look into this when I get back

Thanks. In the meantime, I have figured out a little more of what is happening. I have two folders containing the two volumes/CDs of the Raymond Leppard recordings of the Brandenburg concertos, A match for each of these is found in discogs but no single album matches in MB. There are track-by-track matches to a release in MB, which contains the entority of both of my folders, but that release contains some additional work, and so there is not a whole album match.

Clearly SongKong is deriving the “Work” from the Discogs data as this contains some signature errors/misformatting. However as the “Work” is still clearly identified in the MB release, I would prefer to use that (even if it is in German!). This is what I am unable to find a way to achieve.

Thanks, okay I think this is current situation. The MusicBrainz work consideration is only done when matching whole album because it wants to consider movements within works. If has only matched individual tracks then it cannot really do this.

We didn’t used to do anything with Works in Discogs but on a recent release we did add support for deriving work from title, this is much simpler than what we do with MusicBrainz since there is no separate Work entity within Discogs itself.

With the current version of SongKong doing what you want would require you to add the release to MusicBrainz then you could match to the release.
