I have an old version of a MELCO server and therefore SongKong is very slow on this device. This is the main reason why I only use SongKong exclusively on my unRAID server.
So there is no reason to keep the installation of SongKong on my MELCO. How can I remove it?
SongKong uninstall
Hi, unfortunately Melco didn’t provide a way for you to uninstall SongKong.
You can use Admin menu to empty database and delete reports to recover space then stop SongKong so it doesn’t use any cpu.
But if you really want to uninstall it then the only way would be to contact Melco and have them do it for you.
Thanks for your swift reply @paultaylor
I received an answer from Melco Audio:
“The safest way to proceed is to make a BACKUP of your melco. Check and be sure that the Backup is good. Then FORMAT the main drive from main menu. This will take you back to empty drives. RESTORE from your BACKUP to install the music, but then simply do not install SK. If you are edit and manipulate your data regularly it is a good idea to FORMAT and RESTORE anyway as it cleans up fragmentation caused by edits.”
I don’t think that I am willing to do that and rather following your guidance.
