When I try to run version 8.3 on my 2020 iMac with Monterey 12.4 I always get the message “Unable to load Java Runtime Environment”. Please help me to get the program running.

The problem is that you have downloaded the wrong mac version, there is the Intel version suitable for most macs, and the M1 version suitable for the newest macs using the M1 Arm chip. Unfortunately because of limitations with the Java installer there is not currently a way to provide a single universal installer but I expect this will be a possibility in the future.
