Some new user questions

Hi all, just found Jaikoz via a Lifehacker article. But, I have some new user questions…

  1. Loaded my first album, hit the Auto Correct button, and off it went. But, 1 track came back with a different album title (assume it also appears on another album). How do I stop or correct this. Can I tell Jaikoz that these tracks are one album?
  2. Can I also download and embed album art? Seems I can select a file but was hoping art would be grabbed with the auto tagging if its missing.
  3. Whats the easiest way to apply my new tags to the file names?

Thanks!

Edit: Since posting, I’ve discovered the additional track that I had the issue with was accidental in the folder! As for album artwork, it seems other albums do grab the artwork but not this one?

  1. Hi assuming your fields are already organized one folder per album (sub folders for multidisc albums are okay) enable Preferences:Remote Correct:Group by Folder only and Preferences:Remote Correct:Only Match Complete Releases

To fix a folder of songs that have been incorrectly split into multiple albums use the Tagbrowser to list all the songs that should be on one album then use Action:Match to Release:Match to one MusicBrainz Release

  1. Jaikoz does look for album art and embed it, but sometimes it can match songs to a release but not find an album cover for the release.Neither MusicBrainz or Discogs guarantee that every release in their database has a link to an associated cover art. Jaikoz only embeds the artwork but you can store as separate artwork files as well using File:Save Artwork to Filesystem

  2. Use Action:File and Folder Correct:Rename Filename from Metadata and Rename SubFolder from Metadata. You can change the rename mask in the preferences.

Thanks for the detailed reply! It seems my test album does have artwork on musicbrainz (from Amazon) yet didn’t grab it? Is it because its linked from Amazon?

Disogs also have the release O(which I assume is also checked for artwork?). How can I find out which Disogs release the album has been matched to? The log says “Ignored 11 songs because they already have a Discogs Release Id”

I assume theres no function to go off to Amazon, Google etc within the program if no artwork is found?

Also, I notice the titles have ‘remix’ in lower case. I thought the capitalizer function would fix this but it doesn’t seem to do much?

And one final question, why does the column on the left start at 0 rather than 1?

Okay, when the artwork is from Amazon sometimes we can derive the artwork based on the Amazon Id (ASIN) and sometimes we cant. Discogs changed their api in February 2014 so that images can only be retrieved now if the user has a free discogs account and authorizes applications to use their account. I have just finished implementing this new mechanism for SongKong and will shortly add for Jaikoz.

At the moment there is no way to manually lookup artwork from Google.

Remove remix from Preferences:Manipulators:Capitalizer:Words usually kept lowercase

Because as a programmer I think of indexes as starting from zero rather one, it was a mistake which is a bit of a pain to change now, although there is an issue open to address this.

Excellent, all makes sense. And, finally (for now) can a right click function be added to Windows to open a folder directly in Jaikoz (lazy, I know!)
