Hi, sometimes tags (especially song titles) are too long for Windows to handle. Is there a way to tell Jaikoz to automatically limit the number of characters in a tag? And if so, can you please show me the step-by-step procedure. Thanks.
Shortening Tags
You mean when using something as part of filename, well yes you can using the javascript notation used in the filename masks
i.e
step-by-step procedure, please
no, not filename, just tags
Sorry but what do you mean by too long for Windows then, I don’t understand how Windows cares except for when used in filenames.
I use another software to write filenames from tags, because Jaikoz isn’t very straightforward for me. So I was asking if there was a way to limit the number of characters in the tags. Of course the best thing would be to maintain tags intact and just limit filenames using Jaikoz, but is it easy?
You don’t really want to be storing shortened tags just so that your filenem is okay.
Jaikoz Rename File mask is very flexible and fairly easy, but could be easier. Some of the improvements I want to make can be seen in SongKong and these will make it into Jaikoz.
In the meantime why not write what you want in psuedo code and I will try and write the Jaikoz rename function for you , and you can cut and paste it and try it out.
Thanks, I would just like the filename to be Artist - Title. Not Album Artist. Thanks
I figured it out by myself. Thanks anyway.
