scanned and cleaned my music. Now I have tons of dupe records in itunes

First, when I try to use the songkong itunes integration checkbox, it doesn’t work. Says it can’t connect to itunes. So I had to press cancel and work with songkong disconnected.

I successfully cleaned about 35,000 files and then deduped them. But at some point when starting itunes it basically doubled the # of files. Prob becuase I didn’t read your directions correctly! ANyway, there are still the right # of files in the music directory. It’s just they’re listed multiple times in itunes.

I’ve tried removing and then adding the library to itunes, which goes through some lengthy scanning process, but it still has 70000 songs. Is there another way to rescan it or do I just bite the bullet and rebuild the itunes library from scratch and loose all my play counts and such.

Thx

Hi, if you email support at jthink dot net your support files (Help:Create Support Files) I may be able to see why SongKong was unable to connect to iTunes.

But since you ran SongKong without iTunes integration enabled the files have been deleted but iTunes does not realize that they have been deleted. If you are on OSX you could use http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=removedeadsuper to get rid of tracks that no longer exist, Im not sure about a solution for Windows though.

Thx, just sent you the supprt files.

Hi, I have looked at your logs a fix was put into SongKong 4.8 which will probably solve the issue with SongKong being unable to connect to iTunes in the future.

For your current situation wither you need to find something that remove dead tracks in iTunes (there must be something surely) or just create a new iTunes database if that is not an issue for you.
