Save Artwork to FileSystem

Hi,

a little question about artwork …
when adding artwork to media file … my artwork file size is about 200ko to 350ko (600 x 600) and when I want to save back the artwork to filesystem the artwork file is now about 56ko to 65ko (600 x 600).

Is it possible to get back the original artwork file ?

Kind Regards

Has the file format changed (jpg, png ), depending on how the artwork is added it is not alway possible to keep the original format.

I use only jpg file (with 100% or 90% of compression) for artwork and under Windows when saving artwork to filesystem I retrieve a jpg file with low resolution. I don’t remember to have this under MacOSX but I will confirm this later (as this one is under repair now)

I have tried to retrieve artwork using other tool and artwork has good quality, size and resolution using JAT for adding it to flac file… it’s only when retrieving the added artwork to filesystem.

Kind Regards

You mean when you do Save Artwork to Filesystem. Yes well the idea of this is to extract the artwork using a common name and format, everything is extracted as PNG which is a less errorprone format then JPG, its not meant to extract the artwork biit for bit.

I am probably going to add an option to let you choose whether to extract as JPG/PNG and the name to use for the file but do you really need the artwork as originally stored ?

No I don’t need exactly the same one as the original one but only, if possible, with the same quality as the original. I retrieve only a low version of the original one under windows.

When I add a jpg of 214ko (600x600) using JAT, I’m retrieving as output a jpg too but with a size of 65ko with the same resolution (600x600). I will try with a png file as input format.

I’m sure that original artwork is well added to media file because if I use metaflac or other tool to extract artwork … output artwork has same quality.

I don’t choose the output format … and just leave JAT to manage it (as if a strong compression ratio is used on the output artwork file).

I could upload an example if you want.

Kind Regards
Thanks so much for your support
