Renaming Files

I must just not be “getting” something here, because I’m sure this should work, but it’s eluding me.

All of my music is on an external drive (a separate server actually), and so it’s on /Volumes/music on my Mac (or just “music:” from within most applications.

When I download music from iTunes, Amazon, etc. I can control it, and the music always downloads to that volume, but sometimes I end up with music in my downloads directory, etc. So I pull those tracks up in Jaikoz, clean them up, and I ultimately want to save them to /Volumes/music/%artist%/%album$/track

So far, the best I’ve been able to do is do a File and Folder Correct|Correct Subfolders from Tags. And then do a “Save and Move” to get them to the music volume. I tried changing the “base” folder to the music volume, thinking maybe that would force the files there in one action, but it doesn’t seem to.

Now of course, it’s not the end of the world to have to do it in two separate actions if that’s what it takes. I’m just trying to verify that I haven’t missed something basic!

I basically do something similar on my mac.

/Volumes/Jukebox/Music-main/[Sorted] is where music eventually goes.

I make sure this is set as Base Folder. Sub Folder is whatever is /.

then when I save changes, the files are automatically moved into /Volumes/Jukebox/Music-main/[Sorted] into their respective artist/album folders combos.

I’m getting closer, but they always want to save to /Volumes/artist/album. I’ve tried changing the “Specify the number of folders above this selection to set the base folder to” to 0, but the files still drop out the “music” portion of the path. I got around this by just specifying the base folder as /Volumes/music/Downloads, and now it drops the “Downloads” and things save where I want them. Weird huh!

So, I guess it’s working okay for me, and in “one” save now. That said, I would like the option of making the “Create subfolders hierarchy” the default. I’m managed to get bitten by that one twice in my testing - but these things just keep me on my toes!
