Remove feat. Artists?

Is there a way to only have the main artist listed in the metadata?

On my player is have about 30 different listings for Jay-z as all the songs are listed with his name and the feat. artists.

Thanks!

Not currently possible, but is a known requirement https://jthink.atlassian.net/browse/SONGKONG-299 and is in my Critical list, meaning that it is high priority and I aim to do it soon.

I would love to see this also, with maybe the possibility to move featuring artist back to the song and not to the artist field. Ever since musicbrainz went to ngs and moved the ft artist to the artist field, it has really messed up my tagging.

cool thanks

Yeah, that would be ideal. But I’d take any solution.

A friend was just asking about this today. Any update on if this will be add anytime soon?

I guess he uses an ipod to listen to his music and uses mediamonkey to sync his music and having the featuring artist info in the artist info is really messing up his syncs.

Its High Priority, Im currently working on the Discogs rewrite but this is the next improvement I want to make so it will either be in the next release or the one after.

Awesome! I am excited for this feature!!

Ever since it was moved to the artist field instead of the song field, my library has gotten all messy. Most players either allow for only the artist field which then treats all the featuring artists as additional artists in the views, or they totally ignore the artist field and only show the album artist field. Which would be fine if the song title still contained the featuring artist info.

How goes the Discogs rewrite? Can’t wait to see the changes!

Its going quite well:

DONE:Load relevant data from Discogs data dump into database.
DONE:Create Search Index from data in database
90% DONE:Create Search Server using search index
90% DONE:Update SongKong to use new search server
JUST STARTED:Move database creation, server ecetera from local machine to AWS

So basically I have it working when server running locally on my PC, with just a few tweaks to do. But I need to host it on the Internet and I’m looking at using Amazon Web Services rather than just simply a remote Linux machine as I think it will offer better performance, reliability and value for money, but using AWS is not that straight forward and have run into a number of issues.

Also once released for SongKong I need to update the Jaikoz code base.

What I can say its that during testing that percentage of releases matched to Discogs has drastically improved and the number of queries I need to send drastically reduced so it should be a good result all round.

That sounds very exciting! If you need any testing, please let me know.

did this ever get sorted? if i need to setup jaikoz in a way so it will do this how do i do it please?

Hi, its done for SongKong but not yet for Jaikoz but I expect it to be done soon

is there a work around for now?

Not really, either use SongKong or manually edit the artist value after matching.
