For the removal of duplicate files (exactly the same) I use “fdupes /rdN .”.
Works super fast and reliable.
For the others (different file sizes and MD5 signatures) I then use SongKong.
Removal of (all kind of) duplicate files
fdupes is fine for identical fields, but much harder to find duplicates when different formats or even different audio, this is why we have a number of choices to make regarding what is a duplicate
That is correct. I use fdupes for 100% identical files, regardless of whether they are music files or others, so that SongKong no longer has to deal with them. For tag-based searches, SongKong is my first choice.
