Rebuild folder structure dispite current layout

I would like to have Jaikoz completely rebuild my folder structure dispite its current layout. What I would like to do is take every song, match it in MusicBrainZ and then have Jaikoz create the directory structure based on Artist --> Album (CD) --> then finally song.

Is this Possible?

Yes,

  1. Check the masks in Preferences:File and Folder Correct:Rename Folder from Metadata and Rename File from Metadata are set correctly for both standard and compilation albums.

  2. Enable the Base Folder , Sub Folder and Filename columns in the Edit Window so you can see how the changes will be applied.

  3. Check that your filepath is split correct between Base Folder and SubFolder, the SubFolder will be modified by the Correct SubFolder from Metadata task but Base Folder will not.

  4. Where the split is incorrect use Folder and Folder Correct/Shift Base Folder to Sub Folder or Folder and Folder Correct/Shift SubFolder to Base Folder.

  5. Run File and Folder Correct/Correct Sub Folder from Metadata

  6. Run File and Folder Correct/Correct Filename from Metadata

  7. Check you are happy with the results then do File/Save Changes

Did this work? or any others have suggestions as I am about to do this after Auto Check completes as its been over 2 days and it’s still going on my 100GB music collection.

Hi Jaikoz Support,

I purchased a pro license of Jaikoz after a frustrating experience with MusicBrainz Picard.

I followed the above tutorial and now my music is “missing”…I have the correct folder structure, but no music files are contained within those folders. The music is still within the iTunes Folder under under iTunes Media and in the folder Music.

Additionally I did a a delete duplicates after auto correcting and now when I import my music into iTunes I have significantly more duplicates then before and it allegedly deleted 1000+ songs.

So my overall process was:
(1) Auto-correct
(2) delete duplicates
(3) Folder re-naming and re-structuring using the above tutorial.

My problems are:
(1) Appears to have more duplicates now
(2) Music files are missing from my folders (library of what used to be 109gb is now 56gb’s)

Which is now causing all my other computers who are sharing iTunes to not gain access to my library saying “no access” error message which I’ve never gotten and unsure how to fix as I went into the finder to check permissions.

Overall I am just looking for help and guidance to get my music back and hopefully optimized to what it can be because others do have good things to say about this program and I paid for the pro license because of that, but right now I am very weary of this program and fear it may have forever corrupted my music I’ve been gathering for 15+ years versus optimize.

Please help.

Thank You.

Hi, Jaikoz only ever deletes a file if you mark it for deletion (either manually or as a result of delete duplicates) and then do save changes, I think the most likeley explanantion is that the files have moved.

But the first step is for you to email support@jthink.net with your support files (Advanced/Create Support Files) so I have a clearer picture of what has happened.

An update on this issue, the problem was that the customer readded songs that were already under iTunes control again and because iTunes was configured to copy songs added to it it made another copy so now had multiple copies. Additionally some songs were moved up a level from the users Music folder to their home folder menaing they could not be found, now resolved the duplicates issue.
