problem organizing into full album sets

Hello, I just purchased the full version of songkong. I have a folder of music that has about 2000 mp3 files, some of which are complete albums, some not.

My hope was that songkong would have the ability to tag, rename, and sort these files into folders containing complete albums if I select the right options.

I’ve played around with it for a while, and it seems I must be doing something wrong because I often find folders with just 1 or a few tracks inside them.

I would like to create one folder for individual or handfuls of stray unmatched songs, and another folder which only has 100% complete albums in it.

Can songkong do this?

Yes, you should ensure Only allow match if all songs in album were matched is enabled, enable Rename files based on metadata to organize the songs into folder based on album name and enable File Moving:Move Folder and set to a new folder such as /Complete Albums

Now run Fix Songs, only complete albums should be matched and moved to the File Move Folder.

You should be left with the songs that could not be matched to complete albums. SongKong may have filled in song title and artist information if it could identify song but it wil not rename or move it.

Then I would disable Only allow match if all songs in album were matched and set Move Folder to a new folder such as [/b]Partial Albums[/b] and run Fix Songs. Then the remaining songs should be organized into incomplete albums, and then in your original folder you are just left with the songs that SongKong could not match at all.

Hope that helps, BTW later today we release a new version of SongKong with improved matching.

Ok, still having no luck.

I downloaded the software again today (November 3, 2014) and this is supposed to be a new version. When I check help > about it says I have 3.2, and that 3.3 is available. I uninstall, go to the page, download again, install again, and I still have 3.2. This doesn’t make sense. I’m downloading the Windows 7 64 bit version.

I still get folders with sometimes just 1 song in them, often just a few, and only sometimes all of them. I want whole albums only.

So I grab all the songs, put them back into the original folder, clear the database, and try songkong again, with a different set of options checked.

The check boxes I’ve changed are the two that start with “ignore metadata” and the two that refer to matching albums and folders. With each run I’ve changed just 1 checkbox, until I’ve gone through every permutation, a total of 16 runs. It takes about 5 hours for each run.

Never does it give me complete albums in the output folder.

The instructions in the previous post which say “Only allow match if all songs in album were matched” is not verbatim to the options I see in the software. The wording is a little different, enough to be confusing.

After running pretty much solid all day and all night trying to get the results I’m looking for, I’m beginning to think this software doesn’t work.

Where do I go to request a refund?

Ive just downloaded from the site, and I got SongKong 3.3 no problem, all I can suggest is you try a different browser.

Now for the problem in hand I can assure you that SongKong does work, I gave you general instructions but I cannot actually see quite how your folders are organized or what results you are getting. I would also say if you are trying to work out how something works just try it on a small subset rather than the whole thing then you will get the results much quicker.

I think the best thing would be to set the options as I have explained, (it doesn’t sound like you are setting the Move Folder part), run over a subsection of your files then use Help:Create Support Files and send me the created zip file ( you can email to support at jthink dot net). The resultant zip file can be large so if you want to mimize its size before running Fix Songs run Help:Empty Log Files and Help:Delete Reports

Ok I will create a support file after my next experiment.

Thanks for your efforts. Will post again soon…

Please give SongKong 3.4 a go.

Hi, Im curious to know if im doing something wrong as some new albums just wont match. I have checked Musicbrainz and there can be many releases for the same album however SongKong still wont match it. I have also made sure the track durations are the same and all were within 2 seconds of that on Musicbrainz.

Okay. could you gather some information for me as follows:

To minimize size your support files:
Run Help:Empty Log Files
Run Help:Delete Reports (as long ass don’t need them)

Change Preferences:Debug Log Level to Info
Run Fix Songs on a problem album(s)
Run Help: Create Support Files
Email support@jthink.net your support files
