Pre purchase query

Please bear with me. This might be long but the answers should be succient as this is a truer newbie inquiry. Also I am a seasoned citizen who is basically analog and easily confused by what seems like coding. I am not afraid or unwilling to learn its just that I lack the foundational knowledge.

I have read a few support entries which are asking more than my needs require.
Viewed a few videos from the playlist and am willing to watch then all but want to know if this program is a good fit for my needs. More than happy to purchase if it’s a good fit.

In a nutshell: Over time I have ripped CD’s I own, digital music from Apple, Amazon and Qobuz in Flac and a few older vinyl. The metadata was populated by the music source as I am otherwise clueless.

Now retired my OCD has convinced me to up my game and using a digital streamer, RoseHIFI 150B. The rest of my system is basically PS Audio.

I transferred my collection of about 30K files to a SSD mounted locally in the Rose HIFi unit, established the database. The problem is it’s a mess because of how the file management works . At least that’s what I believe. It deals ok with most individual albums but often does not replay in intended order, Compilation/soundtracks and featured artists songs get scattered around and titles that start with characters like -, #, “ get moved to end of que (I understand why but don’t know how to fix other than renaming individually. I also have a few folders containing a series of songs for something like a meditation session. It’s not a playlist but songs copied and dropped into a folder. This by it nature creates duplicates I prefer to keep as a duplicate. Not a ton but some, This would be something I could address manually if needed.

Hopefully my questions are sensical and mostly require a binary answer. If I know it will work I can figure it out. Nothing worse than spending hours only to find out the program can’t solve the issue.

Will this program “fix” the inconsistencies in file names so the music shows up in the right order and the single album they were intended for?

I envision a program I run on a backup of my current files which makes the corrections, deleting the files on my RoseHIFI, transferring the corrected files to RoseHIFI and redo the database function to repopulate.

Thank you for help

Hi, yes it can certainly do that., the recommended approach would be:

  • Run Fix Songs this wil identify most (if not all) of your albums and add improved consistent metadata
  • View results to check you are happy with them
  • Possibly to do some manual editing for albums that could not be identified automatically
  • Run Rename Files to rename the files based on the improved metadata

You can also run a Status Report and then Create Support Files to upload it to me and I can review the results for you.
