I notice the online manual says that the fields that have been changed should be showing in color in the edit pane.
I’m not seeing any colors show up with 2.8.1 and OS X 10.5.

On mac its disabled by default, as I was getting complaints that the screen was too busy. Enable it using Preferences/Table/Synchronisation/Highlight changes in different colour
