Newly retired and settling down behind my MacBook Pro (M1) to get my digital house in order.
I’m currently reading through the Songkong tutorial pages to come up to speed on what it can do for me. My music collection is already pretty good, maybe only 15-20% of the albums need attention. I’m mainly interested in cleaning up the genres for my playlists. And identifying genres for my Bandcamp downloads, which seem to drop without any genre tags, if I’m remembering right.
I also have several rips of old ‘mixtape’ CDs that friends would create for road trips or xmas presents, or downloads of MP3s I found on the interwebs that probably don’t need any metadata beside the basics. So I’ll be reading the tutorials to see how I can handle those use cases also.
And there are recordings that are just random stuff – audios of music podcasts and such – that maybe can get by without any metadata.
In any case – I’m just taking my time, playing around with stuff, seeing what breaks, and fixing what I broke.
