New Metadata Providers?

Are there any plans to add any new metadata providers, like Tidal/Spotify/Deezer?

Saw that beets.io has plugins that allow pulling of data from these places

Also saw this project of someone who has scraped a bunch of datasets from the different platforms

Hi, yes always considering other metadata providers and am aware of that project. However, worth noting:

  • None of these providers provide the depth of information that you get with MusicBrainz or Discogs.
  • If Fix Songs checks more metadata providers it will be slower
  • Matching to MusicBrainz has major advantages over other sources because MusicBrainz Ids are a defacto industry identifier, for example when songs are pre-matched to MusicBrainz before importing into Roon then Roon recognizes these IDs and accepts the matches rather than trying to find a match itself

Wasn’t thinking of it as a replacement but more of a fall back when a match couldn’t be found on musicbrains or discogs

Speed I guess I could understand, although I don’t think speed is something I hold at a high priority personally I tend to tag a file once and then your done, it taking some extra time when I am adding new stuff to my library doesn’t really seem like that bad of a trade off for better matches

No I realize not a replacement, speed not an issue if just matching one album but I was more thinking when trying to match your whole collection.

I’m not against the idea, but it’s not highest priority at moment, I’m currently working on optimizing SongKong when run on large collections.
