I tried to find matches for an unknown cd (ripped to mp3) i’ve had for years. MusicIP did indeed find, apparently, matches for all 12 tracks, but when i go to view online the MusicIP match, it has no information (artist, title, track) for the song, tho there is a PUID. Is there a minimum amt of info that MusicIP retains? Otherwise, it is matching on… well, what exactly?

MusicIP holds a database of song acoustic ids and some basic information for these songs, but this basic information cannot be retrieved for all operating systems at the moment. Musicbrainz is independent of MusicIP and holds another database containing more complete information for some songs. Many of the Musicbrainz songs contain reference to the MusicIP acoustic ids.
So to update the metadata the song must be in the Musicbrainz db, if it has an acoustic id it can be matched by acoustic id, if it doesnt it can only be matched by metadata.
So decoding your post I think Acoustic Ids were created for all 12 tracks but there was no match in the Musicbrainz database.
Thanks for the clarification. Is extracting the info from the MusicIP db doable with … any application you know of? For finding tracks on CD mixes with unlabeled tracks this would be just fantastic. Is it something you might be working on?

A successful lookup from MusicIP (via the Retrieve Acoustic Ids option) already gives you a key for unlabelled tracks on CD’s , the id is then looked up in Musicbrainz and all the info can be retrieved.
But when the key isnt found in Musicbrainz and there isnt sufficient metadata in the track to find a match in Musicbrainz there will not be a match.
But MusicIP does provide a limited set of additional information for a track as well as the Puid, you can retrieve artist/track and genre (butr not album!). This additional info might be enough to get a metamatch on MusicBrainz. I will be adding this additional info in a later version of Jaikoz.
