MusicBrainz Unique Id question

I think I am getting lost in how things are working.

I have two songs that I wanted to correct. First I ran “Retrieve acoustics ID” and this worked just fine.

Next I wanted to update my tags from MusicBrainz so I ran "Update tags from existing MusicBrainz Id. Nothing happens.

I then ran “View PUID at MusicBrainz” and up pops a web page with MusicBrainz info about the selected song. There were two entries Album,Official and Live,Official.

I cannot figure out why my I am not getting any updates.

Hi Robert an Acoustic Id and a Musicbrainz id are two different things, instead of running ‘Update tag from existing Musicbrainz Id’ you need to run ‘Autocorrect tags from Musicbrainz’ to try and identify the track on musicbrainz using the metadata and/or acoustic id. If a match is found the Musicbrainz Id will be set for the track and the metadata updated.

The ‘Update tags from existing Musicbrainz Id’ option should only be used if the track have previously been matched but more metadata for this track has been added to Musicbrainz since and you want to update your track with this newer/additional metadata
