musicbrains server / search server on different ports . how to configure

With the recent change so that people can run musicbrainz vm which is setup on the same port. How does someone go about configuring separate ip’s or ports if they are running standalone non vm servers?

Although the search server itself runs on a separate port and potentially a different machine the MusicBrainz web service incorporates the database lookup and a call through to the search service. i.e. from the MusicBrainz webservice Url you can access both the database lookups and the search, just make sure MusicBrainz is configured correctly.

I removed the separate search url field because it was just too confusing for most users to understand the difference between the two. And is no longer required especially since I expect almost everyone to uses MusicBrainz VM

Thanks for the answer. I fully understand the use of the vm as it is easy to setup but can be very slow if you do not have a high end system to support it. as a suggestion you might have a check box if they are running VM then it only gives one option. I would think that accessing the search server directly would be faster then through the front end. But. I am not fully up on how the SongKong sends the data straight to the server. Again, thanks for the answer and I will continue to use the one entry.

The difference between sending a query directly to search server and via MusicBrainz server is negliable as the MusicBrainz server just sends it straight through to the search server.

The key thing is if using VM is to allocate as much memory as possible.
