More generalized genre's

There’s no shortage of genre questions/answers, but that doesn’t seem to be helping me.

I loaded up my music library, did ‘Auto Correct’, but the genre’s I’m seeing are very specific (or wrong, some might say). As an example, The Beatles album ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ has songs listed as “Am pop” and “British Invasion” - on the same album.

The question is essentially, how do I get Jaikoz to use much broader genre’s?

The Jaikoz website says Discogs’ ‘Genre’s’ are much more general, so I went “Preferences->Remote Correct->Discogs”, for 'Genre" I set “Always replace values”. For ‘From’ I set “Doscogs Genres”. I then went on over to “Manipulators->Autocorrector” and set only “Correct metadata from Discogs”.

Phew, ok, so now when I Auto Correct this Beatles album, nothing changes. Which isn’t surprising when I look at the log output:

Can I get some help on this? My only concern over genre is that I can use it to find other music in my library that’s somewhat similar. As it stands now, I can search for a genre and I’ll get back fewer songs from my entire library than exist on the particular album said song belongs to.

Hi, you have made the correct modifications for your preferences, the problem is that either your songs have already been matched to Discogs or no match to Discogs could be found, you need to run Action:Remote Correct:Update Metadata from Discogs to update existing matches with latest metadata ( the option you ran will try and find matches, but will ignore songs that have already been matched).

No need to modify autocorrecter, just run the required task standalone.

Of course if the songs have not been matched to Discogs, and no match can be found that will not update anything either. Look at the Release Discogs Url to see if a match has been found.
