Modifying metadata without syncing to iTunes

I have my music library with iTunes on my Mac laptop. But as my library is large, I’m thinking about running Jaikoz on my PC (which acts as a media server and is on all the time). I’m wondering this:

If I have Jaikoz edit the metadata of my music library (which is on network attached storage) from my PC, will the changes in the metadata show up in my iTunes library on my Mac laptop? Does anyone know if iTunes recognizes changes to files once iTunes has imported the files, or is recognition of metadata only done during import?

You can get Jaikoz to updates the iTunes database for iTunes on Windows, but you need to enable the option in preferences because Jaikoz only syncs with iTunes by default on the mac version.

But when you run iTunes on your Mac it will be unaware of these changes, but all you have to do is select all your files, right-click and select ‘Get Info’ to update them . The only caveat to this approach is that if you move the location files under iTunes control from your Windows machine, the Mac machine won’t be able to find them because it wil not be aware they have been moved.
