Perhaps it’s possible to implement the following minor changes in one of the next releases:
The “manual edit” task should start with either the “Songs” or “Album” tab (perhaps the user could define this themselves?);
All tasks that could benefit from this should be pre-configured with “preview only”;

I could default it to Songs, should not be an option though.

Sorry - I mean: All tasks that can be started in preview mode should be started with the “preview only” flag by default.
That should already be the default for all profiles for tasks that have a Preview Only field.

I can’t confirm this for the “Auto Edit” and “Fix Songs” tasks.
The flag is pre-selected in the “Rename Files” task.
Perhaps this is only a behavior of the remote version?

Both tasks started with the “default” profile
