I’m very eager to see the database memory management as mentioned on the blog implemented. Is there any news on progress on this feature - what database engines are being considered for example?

Jaikoz already uses a relational database behind the scenes, but currently it is only used to cache Artwork and information downloaded from Musicbrainz or Discogs. But this database is an embedded data (derby) it is not intended you can access it outside of Jaikoz, which is what I think you were angling for.
