Manually Correct Tags From MusicBrainz

So, I must be doing something wrong, I hit the manually tag track from MB, under remote correct. The little status bar comes up, goes from left to right. But, no box comes up, to choose a different album. This happens on numerous songs, while some work.I figured there are no other albums for these tracks on MB. But under View Online, I click, View This Track on MusicBrainz, and there many albums for some of the tracks…

Am I missing something?

Send me your logs, and a concrete example because I havent got enough info here to even make a guess.

Referring to this thread, instead of e-mail, in case someone else has a problem of a similar nature, for future reference.

Sent support logs.

Seeing numerous errors?

Let me know, if you want me to try any other troubleshooting, to try and resolve this.

You are only running Manual tag from Musicbrainz against a single file, and because that file already have a Musicbrainz Unique Id no attempt is made to rematch track. This isnt the default behaviour so you must have set ‘Preferences/Musicbrainz/Do not match Online if already have a Musicbrainz Id’ - if you uncheck it Jaikoz will reprocess all selected tracks.

This is shown in the Jaikoz console panel as follows:
Nov 29, 2008 7:26:02 AM: INFO: Started to Manually Correct Tags from MusicBrainz on 1 files
Nov 29, 2008 7:26:02 AM: INFO: Ignored 1 tags because they already have a MusicBrainz UniqueId
Nov 29, 2008 7:26:02 AM: INFO: Found possible matches for 0 tags

I suppose I could show a error popup windows, but popup windows can be so annoying so Im hesitant to do so.

I’m not sure if you are were aware that you were only checking one file at a time. Addditionally I also noticed that Jaikoz is warning you that Port 10001 is not open, you need to open this to get Retrieve Acoustic Ids properly, at the moment it is taking much longer than it should and most lookups are failing because it is taking too long

Oh, wow, I thought that option,(Do Not Match Online) was for autocorrect, so that the process is quicker. I thought if I manually decided to do it, it would over ride it. Always figured manual = forced.

And that port issue, is something I have to look in to, unless there is some walk through on the site

You are probably right, I might change this - but at least you know how to get round it.

It depends on what firewall you are using , but it shouldnt be that difficult. Simpler firewalls only block connections coming in so it isn’t a problem for most people - whereas this is a problem connecting out.

Well, I loaded up Jaikoz, this morning, and that image didn’t appear.

So, it seems the problem is intermittent…

Also, when I manually tag the track from MB, what is it based against?
Hopefully, it should bring up every album, that the track is on, because just messing around with it, it just brings up different variations of the same album(Country, Worldwide, etc.), which doesn’t seem really useful.

Yes, it brings up every album it can find, but when an album has different variations it show each variation to allow you to select which variation you want to use. (In Musicbrainz parlance each variation is a release event. )

Ok, then if that’s the way it should work; then there is an apparent problem.

I select, Manual Correct Tags from MusicBrainz, it only finds two albums; variations of the same album.

But, When I select ‘View This Track Online at MusicBrainz’

It’s seems there are at least 6 albums, that apply to the song.

I’ve tested it again and it is working as it should in the general case.

Remember you are matching individual tracks not albums - in this the track you are matching is called Smack That , and that is what it is called on the album radio 538 Hitzone 40, But on the Konvicted albums it is called Smack That (feat. Eminem) so it isnt as good as match. Jaikoz should return the Konvicted albums as well (with a lower score) but unforuntately there is a bug on the Musicbrainz server to do with words like ‘that’, ‘the’ http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/3741 which causes problem matching when the case of these words is not lowercase. They thoought they had a fix for this bug but they havent yet.

There are a couple of workarounds in Jaikoz for this problem, but because a match was made against the ‘radio 538 Hitzone 40’ album , these workarounds didnt kick in so the Konvicted albums were not found.

I think you need to go volunteer your services for musicbrainz, and fix some of their bugs :stuck_out_tongue:

I have considered doing that, but you need to setup your own Musicbrainz server in order to test any fixes which is not a trivial task. I would rather concentrate on fixing problem within Jaikoz itself for the moment, I also help in the testing of Musicbrainz releases.
