Lookup and tag album name based on artist name and track title

I have found that tagging based on audio “fingerprints” pulls the album name for the bands greatest hits album or compilation CDs, such as “Best ofthe 80s” or “Billboards Top Hits for 1997”. I would like my album tag to have the name of the original album the song came on. The artist tag and track title tag are correct in my files, just the album names are missing/wrong.

Can Jaikoz pull the metadata for the album using just the track title and artist? If it pulls a list of mutiple albums that match that I can choose from, that is fine. I just want an easier way to get the original albums name rather than typing it in.

Jaikoz uses the fingerprint to look up as recording on Musicbrainz. Now if that recording is only linked to a compilation album that is the metadata you’ll get but normally it links to an original album as well, and by default these tend to get scored higher UNLESS your song already has metadata in it that better links to the compilation match.

If you always want to match to the original release even if means splitting up your compilation albums you should enable Preferences:Remote Correct:Prefer do not match to Various/Single Artist Compilations.

Alternatively please be aware that even if the song is matched to a compilation Jaikoz automatically tries to match it to an original release as well in the Original Album, Original Year and MB Original Release Id fields.
