lock a song or album profile

First contact situation…

I am previewing Jaikoz and it looks very promising for me. However, I have done a search and then spent several hours reviewing forum topics and the subject of preventing auto correction of tag data never showed up. Is there a way to have a special tag that tells the scan engine to ignore a song or album?

I have a lot of Canadian and European recordings that do not show up in the databases I have been using when tagging, or that information is wrong for the specific disk I have and I have manually entered data from the album jacket.

Is there some way, when this program is looking through my song folders, to first flag items I have manually entered data for so that the entries I have made will NOT or can not be changed?

On one occasion I lost hours of work before I realized a program being trialed was actually “helping correct” things as it went through to show me what it could do!

Having such a file lock feature may become vital when I start adding in the digitized copies of several thousand vinyl recordings and a thousand or so prerecorded cassettes that essentially are starting from scratch. Once I can confirm the data is correct I want to make sure it does not get changed.

This may also be a way to reduce the effective size of my database since it could be used to eliminate the need to scan / analyze that information on future passes, which before adding my currently Analog recordings, is 510GB / 109K files / 13,650 folders, which will be a slow, tough job to fully scan every time.

All thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Hi, so we dont have an explicit locking mechanism as such but there are two ways to protect your existing metatadata

  1. If you do not want any modifications to specific songs realize that Correct Metadata from MusicBrainz will ignore songs that have a value in the MB Track Id field, and Correct Metadata from Discogs will ignore the song with anything in Discogs Release Url field. So if you manually add something to these fields it will act as a lock.

  2. The second way of doing this would be to think I don’t mind Jaikoz matching my songs since it may find additional information (such as Record Label, Barcode, Composer, Conductor) that you haven’t entered, but you don’t want it to change anything. In this case simply add all fields to the Only modify these fields if Empty on the Preferences:MusicBrainz:Format and Preferences:Remote Correct:Discogs options.

Also please note no changes are made to your actual files as they are matched. The changes only occur when you select Save Changes so until this point you can revert all or any of the changes.

Having said that Im aware a specific lock checkbox in the gui would be useful.
